Janet got $200M as per their agreement. It’s interesting because it is not the typical prenuptial that we hear of where the couple can protect their own assets before getting into a marriage—“what’s mine is mine, what’s yours is yours” In Singapore context, even the usual setup of a prenup is not widely practiced and it is not legally binding. We have this thing called the Women’s Charter Act that protects the equal rights of women when they go into a marriage. This is why prenup is not something that they would typically recommend because the Women's Charter will still be the overall governance⁣. But if you ask me if prenuptial actually works in Inheritance Planning, I would say it can still be one of the common tools that your heirs can consider.
