From Thin Files to Thick Profiles: The Power of Alternative Data in Credit Reporting. Last month, Ms. Nthupang Magolego of the National Credit Regulator (NCR) announced an exciting collaboration with the IFC - International Finance Corporation. This Cooperation Agreement will drive several initiatives focused on alternative data and the improvement of credit information reporting in South Africa. At Fair Score, we recognise the critical challenge in collecting, cleansing, and aggregating alternative data to develop robust credit reporting databases, especially in environments where information-sharing infrastructure is weak or non-existent. We believe that through partnerships like this, we can transform "thin files" into "thick profiles," enabling more inclusive and accurate credit assessments for all.
