How to Stay Cool When Thanksgiving Chaos Heats Up Thanksgiving is supposed to be a time of gratitude, but let’s be honest—juggling cooking, hosting, and family dynamics can be a lot. 🌪️ If you’re feeling the stress creep in, you’re not alone. Here’s 3 quick tips to keep your stress under control’ ✨ Tip #1: Pause, Breathe, Reset. When chaos starts swirling, take 60 seconds to yourself. Step outside or sneak into the pantry (no judgment!) and take 5 deep breaths: 1️⃣ Inhale for 4 counts. 2️⃣ Hold for 4 counts. 3️⃣ Exhale for 4 counts. This activates your body’s relaxation response and helps you stay cool, calm, and collected—even if the turkey isn’t cooperating. 🦃🔥 ✨ Tip #2: Lower the bar. This is not the year to aim for Pinterest perfection. Focus on connection over perfection—your loved ones will remember the laughter, not the lopsided pie. 🥧💛 ✨ Tip #3: Take a gratitude moment. Before the meal, pause for a round of thank-yous. It can be as simple as sharing one thing you appreciate. Gratitude doesn’t just feel good—it’s scientifically proven to lower stress. 🌟🙌 Remember, Thanksgiving isn’t about getting everything “right.” It’s about cherishing the moments that matter. ✨ What’s your go-to Thanksgiving stress-buster? In America, Thanksgiving is almost here. I have to say - of all the holidays this one in particular is fraught with peril. Think about it: not everyone loves to cook. And even if you do, you’re probably not roasting a turkey with all the fixings on a regular basis. This is a meal that’s both high-stakes and low-practice—one you only get once or twice a year to perfect. Then add in the mix of family dynamics—relatives you might not see (or even like) that often—and the fact that there aren’t any presents or distractions to diffuse the tension. It’s no wonder so many people find this holiday stressful. As you prepare, I want to offer you one simple question to ask yourself: How can you make this holiday easier for yourself? Maybe it’s skipping a side dish, asking for help, or saying no to something that feels like it's just too much. What part can you let go of this year to make space for what really matters? #holidaystress #timemanagement #boundaries

Two questions for you: ➡ On a scale of 1 to 10, how much do you enjoy Thanksgiving? ➡ On a scale of 1 to 10, how much stress does Thanksgiving cause you? I suspect there’s a wide range of different answers to those questions. If you’re the person responsible for cooking the bulk of the meal, Thanksgiving might be hugely stressful—and it could also be one of your favorite days of the year. If you always have to travel, and really don’t enjoy the holiday itself, Thanksgiving is probably a chore more than anything else. Maybe the only thing you really love about it is some silly Thanksgiving tradition. But that could still be a source of joy for you at the holiday. Both joy and stress can be a big part of Thanksgiving for a lot of people. Knowing that the stress is going to come up, and having a plan to keep stress managed, creates space for you to also notice and deeply experience the joyful stuff. ❓ What kinds of stress tend to come up for you around Thanksgiving? 🍂 Thanksgiving can bring pressure to create the "perfect" holiday, whether through elaborate meals, family gatherings, or social media portrayals. The pursuit of perfection can lead to stress, anxiety, and feelings of inadequacy. Thanksgiving, like many holidays, is often associated with an idealized image of family unity, abundance, and gratitude. Whether through movies, advertisements, or social media, we're bombarded with portrayals of the "perfect" holiday meal, perfectly behaved children, perfectly matching décor, and happy, harmonious family interactions. These portrayals can create an unattainable standard that makes it hard to reconcile with our own experiences, which are often more complicated. 🍂 The pressure to create the “perfect” Thanksgiving holiday can be overwhelming, but it's important to recognize that the holiday season is about much more than idealized images of family, food, and celebration. By acknowledging the sources of this pressure, redefining our expectations, and practicing self-compassion, we can create a holiday experience that’s far more fulfilling—one that allows for imperfection, authenticity, and connection. Ultimately, Thanksgiving can be a time for gratitude, reflection, and shared moments of joy, no matter how they unfold. Let us know what your ideal Thanksgiving looks like or what that day means to you in the comments. #thanksgivingyourway #holidayexpectations #atimeforgratitude #atimeofreflection #soundadvicecounseling Camille M. 🎄✨ This Christmas season, I’m embracing a new mantra: If it’s not bringing me joy, I’m not doing it. ✨🎄 I believe it’s time to get back to basics. To pause, take a breath, and re-evaluate what truly “needs” to be done. The holidays don’t have to be about perfection or a never-ending to-do list. For me, it’s about connection, laughter, and making simple, meaningful memories with my family. This year, we’re decorating with homemade ornaments, baking cookies together, and skipping the things that don’t add joy to our lives. The pressure to do it all is gone—I’m focusing on what matters most. Take a moment to ask yourself: What brings you joy this holiday season? What can you let go of to create space for what really counts? Let’s make this season more about love and less about stress. Share your favorite way to simplify the holidays below! ⬇️ #HolidayJoy #BackToBasics #MakingMemories #IntentionalLiving https://wix.to/KqFoVhk
