Do you know the Leave No Trace principle? Have you found litter left by other hikers on a walk? Have you ever taken a souvenir from nature home? Have you ever thrown your banana peel in nature while hiking because it is natural so it will degrade anyway? I have. A small example. Etretat in France is a major natural attraction with its chalk cliffs on the Channel; it has amazing beaches with beautiful pebbles. A local organisation estimated that tourists take for about 300 kg of pebbles from the beach, which accelerates the risk of erosion. Often we do not realise the effect of 'just taking a few pebbles'. Based on 7 principles, the non profit Leave No Trace provides education and training to support and protect nature. The concept is simple; leave no trace when in the outdoors. While the concept is straightforward, there is more to it which I came to understand upon taking the course. It is about considering that when many people have a similar behaviour in outdoors, nature and the local wildlife will be impacted. Are you applying the principle when operating tours and itineraries in your destination? Are you making travellers aware of the importance of leaving the natural world natural? Are your teams aware of the importance of the concept? Send me a DM to discuss further in detail. #leavenotrace #leaveonlyfootprints #humus #tourism

OCEAN | MOUNTAINS | WILDLIFE This is the foundational stone of our travel itinerary in Borneo. Whether we are creating a travel plan for an individual as part of their coaching or for a travel brand or retreat leader, we typically recommend starting with three nights in our private OCEAN villas (featured below only 14secs long and worth the watch). This provides our clients with a "soft landing," allowing time to acclimate and for their nervous system to relax in the new surroundings. The next phase involves traveling to the MOUNTAINS, where we connect with nature and the community. Here, we share stories with the local community and hike a magnificent trail. The final phase immerses us in WILDLIFE, adding a touch of adventure as we seek out Borneo's Big Five: Elephants, Orangutans, Crocodiles, Proboscis Monkeys, and Rhinoceros Hornbills. I have built a LIFESTYLE business, and I help others do the same. #LifestyleBusiness #Lifestyle #Travel #Adventure #TransformationalTravel #SelfDevelopment

Hey Dominica — Don’t kill the golden goose! You have well positioned yourself as a unique nature and outdoor-driven destination in the Caribbean. So be careful as you expand into #cruiseships and #luxurytravel, because you don’t want to ditch your roots and authenticity! ~ Rob🪿🫵🇩🇲 In this uber competitive travel industry, destinations must retain and maintain a strong #brandstrategy, messaging and #positioning to differentiate itself from its competition. Meanwhile, today’s nextgen travelers demand unique and authentic experiences that touch on nature, culture and community. So maintain strong #storytelling. 🎥 Since Dominica was the last Caribbean island to be colonized by Europeans — your natural beauty, resources and “roughness” has been better preserved and maintained than your island neighbors. And that’s a good thing. Because after decades of preservation, the simple phrases and keywords that travelers (and this journalist) emit about Dominica are a tremendous asset and strength into today’s commodification of most traveler destinations: > “it takes a taste for adventure” > “Driving around the island…usually involved long, queasy rides on narrow concrete ribbons hacked through mountain jungle in the last century by pickax, shovel and wheelbarrow.” > “The island is a big draw for hikers who enjoy a challenge: Walking almost anywhere beyond the coast involves going up or down.” > “Hikers (are) able to choose from a network of mountain paths, which traverses the entire island in 14 stages and takes six days to complete.” > “UNESCO World Heritage sites” > “The government has opened a new reserve for sperm whales, complementing a marine reserve that protects coral and reef animals.” > “Dominica receives up to 250 inches of rain annually, feeding crystal streams, waterfalls and thousands of acres of lush forest.” > “The upside to all that precipitation is the Edenic ecosystem. Much of the island feels like an untamed garden.” So don’t forget your identity! And let’s hope this quote becomes the reality: Tourism Minister Quote >> “We want our visitors to be responsible, to understand that our vision is to be a great destination, and when they come they have to be respectful to nature.” The New York Times Nina Burleigh UNESCO Denise Charles-Pemberton Jungle Bay Resorts and Spa #dominica #caribbean #islands #nature #sustainability #brandstrategy #hiking #outdoors #cruiseships #cruising Discover Dominica Authority
