"Nothing is holding us back - we just have to do it together." 🌍 This morning I attended the first session in a training series organized by Deloitte and EIT Food on The Future of Food. The food system is very pivotal, it is not only the biggest employer in the world, it also generates about 25% of the global GHG emissions, and uses about 50% of the world's habitable land. We have the opportunity now to still transform our food system together to become more sustainable, and EIT Food shared some interesting trends to support this transition: 🥕 Product diversification: Expanding the range and use of plant-based proteins and products is a key enabler to make the food system more sustainable. 🌶 Vertical farming: Introducing vertical farming allows us to significantly reduce land and water use of agricultural products. 🥝 AI/ML for predictive farming: Using AI or ML for farming practices can help increase yields and reduce fertilizer use.
