Lufthansa Cargo reported a 3,700 percent increase in operating profit (adjusted EBIT) at €38 million for the third quarter of 2024 compared to €1 million in the same period last year in the traditionally seasonally weak third quarter for air freight. "With all passenger airlines operating at a profit, Eurowings, Austrian Airlines and Brussels Airlines even generated record results in the third quarter," says Carsten Spohr, Chairman, Executive Board and CEO, Deutsche Lufthansa. "Lufthansa Technik and Lufthansa Cargo also remain on track. At the same time, delayed aircraft deliveries, punctuality issues at our hubs in Germany and regulatory disadvantages are impacting our core brand. Lufthansa Airlines has therefore launched the Turnaround programme to address these and structural internal challenges." Lufthansa - a case of expensive responsible aviation Up to €72 per flight will be charged by Lufthansa Group (Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, Swiss International Air Lines, Brussels Airlines and Eurowings) - to partially cover expenses for new eco regulations. All EU flights will be affected from Jan. 1, 2025. Great, but... some flights within Europe cost less than €72. Will the more cost-effective and agile competitors squeeze major flag carriers out of business? Are we conscientious enough to fund the eco transition? #airlines #netzero #carboncredits #saf #ecoregulations

One step away from the conclusion of the sale, according to press leaks reported by Corriere della Sera, the agreement for the sale of ITA Airways to Lufthansa is at risk, government sources seem to confirm the tension between the parties. Lufthansa Group has reportedly communicated to the #MEF (italian Ministry of Economy and Finance) that, according to an assessment by the German group, #ITAAirways has lost value in the last 6 months. Consequently, #Lufthansa is reportedly intending to pay the company, as part of the capital increase provided for by the agreement, a lower sum than initially agreed. Once again, when things seemed done, the surprises for the "new #Alitalia" do not seem to be over, #Italy certainly must not lose out, to favor the Germans. ❗#UPDATES in the article: https://lnkd.in/d2u8g7sa #aviation Ministero dell'Economia e delle Finanze #airlines WEtravel NEWS Wetravelaviation #wetravelnews #wetravelaviation

Although the beginning of the year is typically a low season for Austrian Airlines, several factors contributed to an adjusted EBIT of -62 million euros in the first six months of the current year. This result is significantly lower than the airline's expectations. The main contributor to the negative result was the months-long wage dispute at the beginning of the year, but the first half of 2024 also presented other challenges, including the situation in the Middle East, adverse weather conditions in Europe, the rising location costs, stagnating ticket prices and two prolonged fleet disruptions at Austrian Airlines. Furthermore, initial investments to expand the fleet on long-haul routes with the new #Boeing #B787-9 #Dreamliner impacted the first half of 2024 results. https://lnkd.in/dKxh7Pnv #austrianairlines Annette Mann Francesco Sciortino Lufthansa Group #airlines #aviation #wetravelbiz Wetravel.biz #wetravelaviation Wetravelaviation
