Electricity from hydropower has long been the best energy solution in the mountainous landscape of the Alps. What began with simple mill wheels was revolutionized by the invention of the Kaplan turbine by the Austrian Viktor Kaplan,way back in year 1913!!!! Today, 70% of the electricity required in Austria is generated from hydropower. #greentechaustria shows how technology, research, and development can lead to new, economically viable solutions. In addition to updating the start-up list, Green Tech Valley conducted a needs survey among start-ups, which showed that networking with sparring partners from industry is a top priority for 77 % of green start-ups.
