We love featuring families that work together, and this week we are shining a light on siblings Hiro & Autumn! Hiro is one of our extremely hard-working Event Set Up Attendants and even spent some time as one of our Peer Trainers. After settling in at DU, Hiro encouraged Autumn to apply for a position as well. She started with us as a Steward, was promoted to Banquet Runner, and is now one of our Peer Trainers. Reflecting on what they each enjoy about working here, Autumn talked about how great it was that everyone treats each other with respect, regardless of the position they are in. Hiro spoke about how important the friendships are and how the people here are what make this place great. Outside of work, Autumn loves reading, spending time with her cat, and window shopping. Hiro enjoys hanging out with friends and playing videogames. When we asked them for a fun-fact about themselves, they immediately started bragging about each other! Hiro talked about how knowledgeable Autumn is about nature and how as kids she always had to hold him back from messing with poisonous plants and animals. Autumn talked about how Hiro was a wild child growing up and was always fishing and catching frogs. When asked what two items they would want if stranded on a deserted island, Autumn chose a firestarter and an encyclopedia of herbs/edible plants and Hiro picked a hatchet and a bucket. Sounds like the two of them will be set! If you want to work with Hiro and Autumn, check out our job postings at BenchmarkHotelDFW.com. #BenchmarkatDU #PGHPeopleFirst #PyramidFamily

~ PAUSE ~ Put a Bandaid on it! Shared by Natalie Do you ever ignore Inner Wisdom? Sharing The Pause Practices and Pause free books and practice materials with participants at the Better Family Life Job and Resource Fair recently, I kept finding myself struggling with the box full of our purple plastic bags we give to our customers to hold their Pause goodies. The box was flimsy and falling apart. As I observed myself interacting with this failing box over and over again, I began to laugh at myself remembering something that had happened earlier in the week…. I had been given a direct opportunity to put the bags into a different, sturdier box, BUT instead of flowing with that moment and following Inner Wisdom, ~because I was tired~ I opted to put some tape on the box and quickly patched it up. I put a Bandaid on it! > NOTE: The Pause Crew is sweating profusely at this swelteringly hot outdoor event > > Participants, our customers, are lined up eagerly willing to receive their Truly Helpful Pause goodies > ! And the tape on the box was coming undone ! ! The box was sweating and falling apart ! ! Bags are spilling out ! . . . Choosing to Pause.. ...and transferring those bags into a fresh new box before the event could have saved me time in the long run! I am reminded that temporary fixes will never outlast the wise solution that comes from Inspiration Within. And that's my lesson. Pause ~ Listen ~ Follow to save time and energy in your day! #pause #listen #follow #savetime #efficient #effective #inspired

🦀 The groups I work with know my crab metaphor. 🦀 Many of my friends and colleagues here on LinkedIn know my crab metaphor. (Hi!) Well, next week, in the first week of my end-of-summer break, I'm going back to the source of that metaphor: crabbing in the tidal creeks of Edisto Island, the funky vacation beach my family has gone to as long as I have been alive. As long as my mom has been alive! In my teaching and speaking work, a bucket of crabs is a work meeting where the level of trust is low. People are either lashing out (fight), trying to climb out of that bucket (flight), or tuning out and trying to dodge shrapnel (freeze) until they can get back to their desk. The idea is not only that this is a not-fun, unproductive, and unsupportive environment, but that it is possible to observe something as seemingly abstract and relational as TRUST. Next week, I will be gathering with almost 30 relatives for the traditional (hot, humid, buggy, jellyfish-y) family beach week. And There Will Be Crabs. Blue crabs. We will catch them in nets from a rotten chicken wing on a string that we plop into the mucky pluff mud in the marshes in the middle of the island at low tide. And then held in a bucket till we take them back to cook them for dinner. And when nieces and nephews and cousins and second cousins ask for details about my work, I can say, "I help people who want their work not to feel like this bucket of crabs." I hope you have a great summer break coming up, or recently completed. #leadership #teamleadership #leadershipcoaching

"Should I invite my fresh date to a family holiday dinner?" 🤔 It’s exciting to introduce someone new to your family, but is it the right time? Here’s how to know if you’re ready to take that step: Gauge Your Connection: Are you comfortable and enjoying each other's company? If the vibe is strong, it could be a fun experience for both. Check Their Comfort Level: Is your date ready to meet the family? Keep an open conversation about it. Set Expectations: Keep it light and fun! A family holiday dinner shouldn’t feel like a serious commitment; just enjoy each other's company. Trust Your Gut: If it feels right, go for it. If you’re unsure, maybe wait until you have more time together before the big introduction! What do you think? Would you invite a fresh date to a family gathering? Share your thoughts in the comments! 👇✨ #newdate #freshrelationship #familydinner #holidayseason #datingquestion
