Imagine a place where every voice resonates, where every opinion matters. That's the foundation of community-driven policy making – a force that doesn't just shape our society, but empowers it from within. When policies are crafted by the very people they affect, something magical happens. Each individual becomes a stakeholder, invested in the collective journey towards progress. It's not just about decisions; it's about ownership, about building a future we're all proud to be a part of. In this space of inclusivity and collaboration, our community thrives. We're not just a collection of individuals; we're a powerhouse of unity and purpose. Satisfied hearts, inspired minds – together, we propel ourselves to new heights, scaling the peaks of success hand in hand. Because when all opinions matter, there's no limit to how far we can go.

"Without the reunification of the [...] team, I do not think half of us would still be around." "The program helped build us into a team that trusts and helps each other." "We are a team now." "We provide a united front for the organization." "The organization as a whole will benefit." Forgive my grandstanding, it's for a good cause. It's because I'm really, really happy. The quality of the bonds that hold us together matter. At work, at home, in the communities we're part of - the quality of our relationships define our quality of life. They also help organizations 'move at the speed of trust', and help keep employees retained and engaged. Creating space for these bonds to form, change, strengthen, sweeten - that is what I enjoy most about team coaching. Celebrating their joys and successes as they experience the impact of this shift is just a huge bonus. #teamcoaching

My experiences have taught me that effectively addressing conflicting viewpoints among team members can significantly enhance the organization's understanding of diversity and inclusion. As the saying goes, "One problem, many solutions." Fostering open communication and active listening is paramount to bridging differences. Recognizing the diverse backgrounds of our team members enriches our problem-solving capabilities. Ultimately, successful resolutions should yield mutually beneficial outcomes while steadfastly aligning with the organization's mission and vision.

One of the questions I get asked at every talk I give is “How can we start to bring a culture of Belonging to our workplace at a team level?” The way we build this in the teams I lead is by coming together once a year, like many teams do, and we design our norms together. We co-create them while also designing the rituals to bring them to life. We design with...not for. When it comes to practicing our norms and rituals with each other, we open up every team meeting, every week, with a check in. We ask questions like: Where did you really lean into them? Where do you need our support as a team? How did these norms show up for you this week? It opens the door to have deeper and more meaningful conversations. As leaders, it keeps us all pointed in the same direction. Some examples of our norms are: We're accountable to the people that we serve. We build with, not for. We’re open, honest and authentic even when it's hard. We challenge ideas and systems rather than individuals. When you build your table together, you create the safe space required for everyone to have the critical conversations for authenticity to thrive. Join our movement around Belonging. You Belong Here. #belonging #youbelonghere #deib #dei #culture #innerwork #systemswork #belong #identity #purpose #workplaceculture #community #impact #ESG #employeeexperience #DiversityEquityInclusion #workplaceculture

To preserve the essence of your group or organization's culture, it's crucial that you carefully consider who you bring into your team. If you continue to include individuals who don't align with your core values, you risk losing those who truly embody what you stand for. Another option is to strive to build and maintain a community where your culture thrives and everyone feels at home.
