Christmas fundraising... According to Enthuse's Christmas Giving Insights 2024 report, in the run-up to last Christmas the most popular time to donate to charity was in the first week. Usually the second half of December is more busy, but in 2023 giving seemed to shift forwards. In that week, December 1st was the most popular day in the run-up to Christmas. Interestingly, Giving Tuesday which fell on 28 November did not outstrip donations in either the run-up to Christmas, or even in that week. December 21st was the date when the highest amount of donations were given though. The report also reveals that weekdays are more popular as donation days than weekends in December, with Fridays in December in poll position. Our local and international clients range from various industries like Finance and Banking, Lifestyle and the most relevant to the question at hand, CHARITIES. Charities, ladies, gentlemen and non-binaries, are our frequent clients as they often resonate with a larger portion of the community, which we also make up. We often learn quite a bit from the way charities choose to fight their battles. For instance, whilst below-the-line marketing means that we represent clients and thus, inevitably have to deal with outdated rejections that make us go "Really? In this day and age?", the team is trained to always leave prospects on a good note because simply put, "it just isn't our battle to fight". I am for these groups BUT at the same time…I think all genders should be able to share with each other. I work with everyone, regardless of who they are. Everyone seems the same to me when you meet someone human to human. I realise the need these groups meet (I sometimes suggest them to clients) but I do think we need to do one better as a society. Feeling safe and being safe are two different things. The more we tell men they can only talk to men, the less it tell everyone it isn’t safe to speak to and with other genders. I think that’s problematic. It embeds the existing narrative that contributes to a patriarchal and unequal society. “Men can’t be vulnerable, sit with inadequacy and show perceived” weakness” with “the other”. What to do.
