Today is my second lobbying day in support of Food for All Oregonians with Oregon Food Bank. Food is a human right, regardless of immigrant status. There has been such an explosive growth in food insecurity the past couple of years, we’re moving more food through our warehouse than ever before (even at the peak of the pandemic). The issue of food insecurity in the UK remains alarmingly high. When people and communities face this daily challenge, Community Shop provides a place for them to feed their families, but also get the support they need for the long term. Next week we will be sharing the knowledge that we have developed over the last decade with the aim of establishing a food security landscape which creates a fairer food system for all and genuinely tackles the root causes of hunger in the UK. #FoodInsecurity

According to the latest report from Feeding America, 13.4% of Southeast Nebraskans are experiencing food insecurity. This staggering number means 64,510 neighbors—including 20,320 kids—may not know where their next meal will come from. This new data from the Map the Meal Gap 2024 study reveals a 34% increase in food insecurity in Southeast Nebraska from the year prior, highlighting the growing demand for food assistance and the importance of community support. In PEI, where one-third of all Islanders experience food insecurity, local organizations are seeing the number of people accessing pantries and other food resources triple over the past two years. No matter if you live in a city, town, or rural area, we know that too many people across the country can't afford food. This is a growing problem.
