During my recent discussion with Donald HjulAdele Richardson, a pertinent question was raised: What is one non-negotiable quality in a leader? We agreed that empathy and effective communication are the most important qualities in leadership. I couldn't agree more. These are indeed the most important qualities required in a leader. Without these, we cannot have effective leadership. Without empathy and effective communication, a leader will never be able to understand their employees or fulfill the objectives of the organization. Upon further reflection, I found these five qualities, along with empathy and effective communication, to be crucial for effective leadership. Please let me know your thoughts. I truly enjoyed reading this article as it clearly identified both the pros and cons of being self-aware as a leader. Authentic leadership is rooted in self-awareness. Leaders who understand their values and motivations present themselves genuinely, building trust and credibility. Walumbwa et al. (2011) found that self-aware leaders are perceived as more authentic, fostering openness and stronger relationships. https://ow.ly/gc1e30sGVh2

Leadership development at its best Completely agree with the below and the main one for me would be lead by example. You can’t expect others to respect you if you don’t respect yourself. Also listening - you have two ears and one mouth- listen twice as much as you speak (as I tell my girls!) and it will go in your favour #leadershipdevelopment #continuousimprovement #alstom #leadershipskills #listen #leadbyexample
If you want to be a great leader, then keep reading 👇 During one of our many conversations, my friend Simon Sinek told me "Leadership is not about being in charge. It’s about taking care of those in your charge." and I absolutely agree. Is there anything missing from this? Comment your thoughts below, all opinions welcome! Image credit: Chris Donnelly

3wThank you for a great piece Richard M. Boudria, Jr. Everything you shared was so insightful, but I personally really connected with this quote, "It’s about leading with integrity, fostering trust, and encouraging the same authenticity in others to build meaningful relationships and a strong culture." Couldn't agree more! Hope to collaborate again soon. Happy Holidays!
