During my recent discussion with Donald HjulAdele Richardson, a pertinent question was raised: What is one non-negotiable quality in a leader? We agreed that empathy and effective communication are the most important qualities in leadership. I couldn't agree more. These are indeed the most important qualities required in a leader. Without these, we cannot have effective leadership. Without empathy and effective communication, a leader will never be able to understand their employees or fulfill the objectives of the organization. Upon further reflection, I found these five qualities, along with empathy and effective communication, to be crucial for effective leadership. Please let me know your thoughts. I truly enjoyed reading this article as it clearly identified both the pros and cons of being self-aware as a leader. Authentic leadership is rooted in self-awareness. Leaders who understand their values and motivations present themselves genuinely, building trust and credibility. Walumbwa et al. Leadership development at its best Completely agree with the below and the main one for me would be lead by example. You can’t expect others to respect you if you don’t respect yourself.
