In an industry with generational gaps and technological transformation reverse mentoring is an important tool to ensure knowledge is shared and supports multi generational development. This has been embraced at Suffolk on site and in our learning culture.

I've often equated my #coaching work to scaffolding. Just as scaffolding provides essential support and structure during the construction of a towering building, executive coaching offers the guidance and framework that leaders need to develop professionally, achieve their goals, and deliver on their mandates. Allow me to expand upon this analogy a bit more. 👷 Support: Scaffolding ensures that each level of the skyscraper is built securely and safely. Similarly, part of my role is to offer insights, strategies, and feedback that help them make informed decisions and navigate challenges. 🏗️ Framework: The scaffolding outlines the structure and progression of the skyscraper, much like how #executivecoaching provides a structured approach to personal and professional growth. I help m clients clarify their goals, build strategies, and maintain focus as they navigate high pressure situations and transitions. 🚧 Temporary but Crucial: Scaffolding is not a permanent part of the building; it is removed once the structure is self-sustaining. Likewise, I cannot and shouldn't be a crutch for my clients to operate effectively, I provide support during those crucial professional inflection points. 🛠️ Ensuring Success: Just as scaffolding is essential for ensuring that a skyscraper is constructed properly and can withstand the pressures it will face, I aim to equip my clients with #sustainable tools to ensure they're well-prepared to handle the complexities of their roles and achieve long-term success. As a side bar, my construction-obsessed toddler would be so proud to know I've connected my business to his favorite industry. Maybe there's an analogy to his favorite snack,🥑 avocado, I've yet to explore....? #careers #professionaldevelopment #jobsandpromotions

Building success is like building a house. 1. Foundation: You need to examine the dirt and location you will build your foundation on. That will determine if there are rocks, holes, or gaps that need to be filled in or addressed prior to laying the foundation. Once you have a better understanding of what your foundation will be sitting on, begin laying the foundation. The foundation bears the weight of the house. This is the most imperative piece of the house. To build success on a solid foundation, everyone must look at collective commitments. This will help when things get shaky or some of the infrastructure comes down and collapses. Addressing the common commitments is like looking at the foundation all over again. Are there cracks that need to be addressed? Did a seismic shift happen that caused damage. Circle back to common commitments to ensure all is well at the foundation level. 2. Frame: Once the foundation is laid and examined, begin framing the exterior walls that establish internal infrastructure. Exterior walls are a focused mission. These walls serve as a barrier to the external elements and offer safety and shelter in times of turmoil. When the exterior framing is solid, it serves as a scaffold to hold the roof. Exterior framing secures the internal walls, floors, and stairs. The focused mission serves as the anchoring point of action. When there is a focused mission, everyone is working within the same walls. If there is damage to the exterior walls, the infrastructure as a whole is compromised. Staying focused on the mission is like anchoring yourself to the strength of the exterior walls or leaning into the scaffolds to bear the weight. 3. Roof: Once the roof is on, it is time to sit and take in that clear vision. Celebrate this monumental moment in building success. You have now established a solid foundations of common commitments; framed out the mission to stay focused and anchor to; and now you have placed the roof where the vision is elevated and extended. Take a minute and examine everything before you move on. Level everything out and make adjustments if necessary. And breathe in the beauty and hope found in that vision. #education #instructionalleadership #motivatingsupervision #teambuilding #schoolturnaround #schoolimprovementplanning #teaching #actionplanning #buildit #onestepatatime #projectmanagement #leadership #coaching

Jeremiah and Abdulwahid, students from Wayland High School, shared their favorite moments from Phase 2 of TCMG’s Construction Mentor Program (CMP) kickoff at the David Rubenstein Tree House Conference Center at Harvard University’s Enterprise Research Campus. Over 20 CMP participants spent time touring and job shadowing various project trade partners, including McDonald Electrical Corporation, Corporate Mechanical of New England, Paul Dionne PJ Dionne Plumbing, Riggs Carpentry, and Consigli Construction Co., Inc./Smoot Construction Company of Washington DC’s Safety Team. This experience was a highlight for many students. CMP provides students with hands-on job shadowing experiences and industry insights. In addition to the tour, students attended an engaging presentation by Ian McCusker from Geocomp, Inc. and GeoTesting Express, LLC, which introduced them to career paths in infrastructure monitoring. The program also included workshops on building social capital and emphasizing mentoring relationships as a foundation for transformative growth. The program concluded with the first of a series of workshops titled ‘Branching Out: Growing Futures Through Community’, led by Beth Fraster, MSW, LICSW, Chief Programming Officer at Mass Mentoring Partnership (MMP). TCMG and the Harvard Allston Land Company (HALC) are excited to extend this programming effort to our CMP cohort in collaboration with MMP, aiming to enhance participants’ understanding of building social capital and critical mentoring. #mentoring #constructionmentoring #TCMG #HALC #ConsigliConstruction #MassMentoringPartners #socialcapital #jobshadowing

The Power of In-Person: Why My Next Workshops Are a Game-Changer for Construction Businesses For years, the online coaching world held immense appeal. But something shifted after hosting my first in-person workshop for construction business owners. The energy was electric. It wasn't just about learning what I had to teach, but about co-creating solutions and strategies with peers facing similar challenges. The peer-to-peer learning was phenomenal, and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. It became clear: in-person workshops unlock a whole new level of value for construction business owners. This experience has sparked a shift in my approach to mentorship. I'm excited to announce a series of upcoming workshops in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, specifically designed to empower construction business owners. Intrigued? If you're a construction business owner looking to break through plateaus and unlock your full potential, I encourage you to get in touch. Let's chat about how these workshops could be the missing piece you've been searching for.

Construction is on the cusp of silly season.... That time of the year where it all goes mad for six weeks.... The school holidays... The past few months have been building up to the crescendo, building up to the feast, the time when work is in abundance, the time when the industry goes mad.... A period when Contractors and Subcontractors often become overwhelmed, swamped with projects and work around the clock to breath a sigh of relief when the first week in September comes around and the School's reopen. Until the next year.... Have you planned for smooth sailing through these choppy waters or are you just going to close your eyes and hope for the best...? It's the same every year, but it doesn't have to be.... Do you have a plan to achieve this…? Do you need help with building one…? In order to work with me you must be: - Committed to changing behaviours - Willing to step outside of your comfort zone - Have a sense of humour - Willing to roll up your sleeves and knuckle down to some hard yards Sound like you....? DM me and we'll talk #construction #mentor #coaching #problems
