On International Women’s Day we’re acknowledging contributions from women around the world and show our commitment and allyship. The underrepresentation of women in senior leadership positions across industries remains a significant challenge. At Swiss Re, we are embedding initiatives, practices and capabilities across the company to change this through concrete gender ambitions, dedicated programmes to advance women talent and inclusive people practices such as equalised parental leave offerings. Our aim is to create an inclusive culture where all employees can bring their whole selves to work, feel a sense of belonging and work together for impact. We believe with diverse backgrounds and opinions; we will make better decisions and drive stronger performance. Happy Friday! The 2024 Status of Women Report Card presents a mix of progress and persisting challenges for women in the Australian workplace. As a female leader at Charter Diligence, these findings resonate deeply with our mission to promote diversity and inclusion. The reduction of the gender pay gap to a record low of 12% is encouraging. However, it's evident that women continue to shoulder a disproportionate amount of unpaid work and are underrepresented in leadership positions. This imbalance underscores the need for continued advocacy and structural changes to support women in balancing their professional and personal responsibilities. At Charter Diligence we believe in the power of inclusive leadership. The report shows that almost a third of young women have been diagnosed with depression and/or anxiety, reflecting the significant mental health challenges women face. Addressing these issues requires not only better mental health support but also fostering an environment where women feel comfortable discussing their challenges without fear of stigma or retribution. The increase in Australia’s global gender equality ranking from 43rd to 26th is a testament to the positive impact of targeted policies and initiatives. However, with only 9% of CEOs in the ASX300 being women, it’s clear that more needs to be done to elevate women into leadership roles. At Charter Diligence, we are committed to creating pathways for women to reach these positions by offering mentorship, professional development, and advocating for equal opportunities. We must also focus on flexible working arrangements. The report highlights that many women are still struggling with inflexible work environments, which is a major factor in their career decisions. By promoting flexible work policies, we can help women manage their dual roles more effectively, leading to higher retention and job satisfaction. While the report shows that progress is being made, it is a reminder that achieving gender equality requires ongoing effort and commitment. We’d love to see further improvement in the new financial year. At Charter Diligence, we are dedicated to playing our part in this journey, ensuring that our workplace is one where women can thrive both personally and professionally. https://lnkd.in/gPnYdzK3 #WomenInLeadership #GenderEquality #InclusionMatters #DiversityAndInclusion #WomenEmpowerment #WorkplaceEquality #FemaleLeadership #BreakingBarriers #FlexibleWork #MentalHealthAwareness #CharterDiligence #ProgressForWomen #EmpowerWomen

This International Women’s Day let's not just celebrate progress; let's commit to accelerating it. Gender parity and equity is not merely a moral imperative but a strategic one, essential for the innovation and resilience of any organization. I've seen firsthand the transformative power of truly inclusive workplaces. It’s important to understand that they don't just happen; they are built through intentional policies, empathetic leadership, and a relentless pursuit of equity. Today, as we honor the achievements of women around the globe, let's also set a bold agenda for the future and say thank you to all the women who inspire us every day. Here are some tips from our colleagues at BCG on creating an inclusive work environment: https://lnkd.in/g6sFTzCB #InspireInclusion #IWD24

Still buzzing from an incredible evening talking with public and social sector leaders about the unique challenges and opportunities they face as they work toward advancing gender diversity and inclusion at all levels. McKinsey & Company and Lean In have now been partnering on the Women in the Workplace report for 10 years (!) and it remains the largest comprehensive study of the state of women in the American workforce. If you haven’t read the 2024 report yet, I would definitely encourage you to do so here: https://lnkd.in/e4h6C2kj My key takeaway? While women have made progress in some areas, there is still much work that we all can do to create a workplace experience that is inclusive and equitable for everyone. #WomenintheWorkplace
