Arbor Day is a special day dedicated to planting, caring for, and celebrating trees. It originated in the United States in the 19th century and is now observed in many countries around the world, often at different times of the year to coincide with the best planting season. Trees are crucial to our planet for several reasons: 1. **Climate Regulation**: Trees absorb carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas, and release oxygen, helping to mitigate climate change. 2. **Air Quality**: They improve air quality by filtering pollutants and providing oxygen. 3. **Biodiversity**: Trees are essential habitats for many species of wildlife, supporting biodiversity. 4. **Soil and Water Conservation**: Trees help prevent soil erosion and maintain healthy water cycles. 5. **Cooling**: They provide shade and cool the air, which is especially important in urban areas to counter the heat island effect. 6. **Social and Psychological Benefits**: Trees contribute to the well-being of communities by providing green spaces for recreation and relaxation. Overall, trees play a vital role in maintaining ecological balance and supporting life on Earth. Arbor Day serves as a reminder of the importance of trees and encourages people and communities to plant and care for them. Having worked in the Millwork industry I love the smell and touch of wood and appreciate the importance of planting new trees and using FSC timber. FSC timber refers to wood that has been harvested from forests certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). The FSC is an international non-profit organization dedicated to promoting responsible forest management worldwide. Timber that carries the FSC label ensures that it comes from forests that are managed in a way that preserves biological diversity and benefits the lives of local people and workers, while ensuring it sustains economic viability. FSC certification involves adhering to a set of principles and criteria that cover legal issues, indigenous rights, labor rights, environmental impacts, and forest management practices. This certification is particularly valued in the global marketplace as it reassures consumers that the wood products they buy are sourced from responsibly-managed forests. Let's Look after our planet and its resources and all of us in construction should do all we can for sustainability as a basic requirement of our jobs not just points for the sales team to use Plant a tree this year every single one really matters #Arborday #trees #wood #AWI #milkwork #joinery #sustainability #addmoreservices #outsourcing #architecture #engineering #construction #planetearth
Hey let's give it up for trees, everybody. #HappyArborDay #TreesAreGreat

Yomari Punhi with Lekali Dog Chew Nepal
Yesterday, we marked the special occasion of Yomari Punhi at Lekali Dog Chew Nepal with delicious Yomari made by our colleague Alisha Maharjan and some light snacks prepared by Maya didi. As part of the celebration, we also had a sharing session to reflect on the cultural significance of this festival. Yomari Punhi, rooted in Nepali tradition, celebrates the full moon and the harvest season - a time to express gratitude and enjoy the fruits of hard work. For us, it was a great opportunity to bond as a team, appreciate our rich heritage and share stories of how this festival is celebrated across different communities.
