Finally in #Estonia the sun's out....so that can mean only one thing! The #sales are starting. Now I am not anti-sale, it's the increasing frequency that has me torn... 👉 As a customer, we all like a bargain 👉 but as a marketer, well I hate to see brand value being destroyed quicker than it can be built. (profits as well) It takes years to build a brand and to position it within a certain category only for wave after wave of tactification devotees to offer it all for 40% off! Being too heavily focused on short-term activations, you teach your customer's to seek out your discounts while your efforts to rent volume hurt profit and brand over time. *You may recognise the brand in the image and the lack of discount. Once you realise that direct communication should only be around 8% of your marketing focus, it comes as no surprise that if you live in this area too frequently then you may be lacking invests in other areas that also drive effective results over time. We need to get back to taking about talk about: 1️⃣ Product 2️⃣ Place/placement 3️⃣ Pricing 4️⃣ Promotion .... in that order. If we constantly reverse this process through well-meaning promotions, they will eventually effect the product you need or are able to produce. #nexperience #marketing #behaviouralscience

“OK Tuhin …..long term strategy is fine, but why not get some sales in the mean time?” And I scratch my head. I wish I can balance the long strategy with some short term ‘conversions’ Sometimes it is possible if I see there is fresh and engaged database. Or there is an irresistible offer. But how long do they last? We have to have a long term strategy so that we can add more on the top (of the funnel) so that the tap don’t dry out. Building the brand equity, trust and credibility with consistency is the key. Why cant we step out of our marketing function and think like a CEO?
