Retrenching people to save a struggling company? I will never believe that retrenching people saves a struggling company from collapse unless the people where directly causing the problems. Sometimes some doors have to be shut in front of your face to find doors to the greater things but.. 1. I don't understand how people who have been productive all along suddenly become excess baggage and a hindrance to survival. Don't believe the hoax that firing people turns around a company. 2. In my strategic thinking I don't believe throwing people out of a ship is a guaranteed solution to save the ship from sinking. It can slow down the process of sinking but it won't until the core reasons for the sinking are identified and corrected. 3. I have worked with Zimbabwean companies that "blame the environment" but latter to show them their problem was all internally generated and helped them recover without throwing anyone out of the ship. 4. I will never reward anyone for "successfully turning around and company" by throwing people out. #strategy #businessstrategy #businesssucess

It been a great journey over the last two years or so at Goodman Fielder in Marketing. We have changed how we do things, what we do and given things a go. Being a long time Consumer Insights Manager 👵 , who loves new ways of doing things, here are a few that we have adopted over the last couple of years: - Using Kantar Link testing with great advice from the team there Beth Rundle, Alissa Skyrme Brian Turner. But we are now giving Link AI a go. How awesome to get feedback on your campaign in 15 minutes! 😊 - We are tracking more of our brands very easily on our Tracksuit dashboards. There is nothing like seeing our metrics climbing on a live dashboard after we launch a campaign. Sargam Seelam - Storing and using all of our ANZ consumer research on our Scout Market Logic Software dashboard. You need to leverage what you already know before you start a project. And we recently trialed their Deepsights AI 🤖 to create AI generated mini reports using everything in the database. Love it! - We are able to do our own quick and easy consumer research through Ideally. This make it so simple and quick to assess if something is going to be acceptable to consumers or not. Lucy Travaglia - Developing virtual audiences through Yabble™. As Mark Ritson says, this is going to become even more widely used and accepted in coming years. Most who sell wine understand how difficult it is to build brand awareness. But every now and then you come across people (a person) who gets it. They think differently, they act and they genuinely want to make a difference. I was very fortunate to meet Sara Checchi of Maximal Concepts who had the vision to educate her customers through having a bottle of Ricca Terra Juicy June on every table (rather than a table talker) at Sip Song (located at Repulse Bay, Hong Kong). In addition, each bottle had a neck tag giving a simple explanation of the wine. These simple but effective techniques are super important to build brand awareness for the Riverland, Australian wine & Ricca Terra. For a small family wine business, with limited marketing funds, this low cost guerrilla marketing approach is spot on. We need more people who think like Sara in the world.
