Are we on track in Germany? We are going to spend just short of 10bn.€ on 35x units of the latest Generation 5+ fighter from 2027 on - that’s ~285M€ per piece (!) Ukraine, today (!) is striking Russian Shahed Factories 1200km behind the frontline with unmanned A22 Foxbat Microlights at a unit cost of ~70k€ For sure the F35 is a marvelous piece of aerospace engineering - but does it really fit the purpose anymore when future adversaries are going for masses of attritable high volume lowest cost unmanned assets? How will our air defense work if confronted with a swarm of 4000 weaponized microlights? 40.000, 400.000?

On July 11, 1961, 63 years ago, the first prototype of the English Electric Lightning F2 (designated XN723) made its maiden flight. This event marked a significant milestone in British aviation history and the development of supersonic interceptor aircraft. The English Electric Lightning was a remarkable aircraft for its time, capable of reaching Mach 2+ speeds and featuring a unique vertically stacked twin-engine configuration. The F2 variant was an improved version of the original Lightning, incorporating enhanced avionics, radar systems, and increased fuel capacity.XN723, the first F2 prototype, played a crucial role in testing and refining the aircraft's capabilities. However, its service was cut short tragically. On March 11, 1964, nearly three years after its maiden flight, XN723 was lost in a crash. The incident occurred when a fuel leak in the engine bay led to an aircraft fire. The pilot, recognizing the severity of the situation, was forced to eject from the aircraft. While the pilot survived, the prototype was destroyed. #military #defense #defence #aerospace #aviation #aircraft #aircrafts #airplane #airplanes #aviationlovers #militaryaviation #militaryaircraft #fighterjet #engineering #technology #militarytechnology #defensetechnology #defenseinnovation #defenseindustry #airforce

India’s AMCA Program: Achieving Aerial Dominance with LPI Technology India’s Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) program is poised to attain true aerial dominance with the integration of Low Probability of Intercept (LPI) technology. LPI radars minimize an aircraft’s radio frequency emissions, making detection challenging. This, combined with strategic design elements and coatings, reduces radar cross-section. AMCA’s stealth capabilities enable undetected penetration of enemy airspace, marking a significant stride in India’s defense technology self-reliance.
