As we approach the end of the year, it’s natural to take stock—both in our work and in our personal, family, and social lives. It’s a season for reflection, gratitude, and finding moments to unplug, reconnect with loved ones, and appreciate what we’ve accomplished together. This year has been one of hard work, dedication, and resilience. Across every part of our business, we’ve faced challenges that require an incredible amount of effort to stay on track. We've worked tirelessly to serve our clients, refine our processes, and improve the way we do business. We’ve kept turnover low and strengthened our team, but financial success hasn’t always come as easily as we hoped. External forces—the economy, weather events, political shifts, and global uncertainties—have added layers of complexity to our work. Yet, it's still important to recognize all we have to be grateful for: 💪 The unwavering commitment of our frontline leaders, senior personnel, and newer team members. 🤝 The sense of community we've built that extends beyond our staff to include our clients, contractors, and suppliers. 🌍 The shared mission that drives us to tackle challenges head-on, knowing that the work we do isn’t always easy, but it’s always meaningful. This Thanksgiving, I want us to reflect on the progress we’ve made, the relationships we’ve built, and the resilience we’ve shown. Let’s take time to unplug, enjoy our families, and find joy in the moments that remind us why we work so hard. This year hasn’t been without its challenges, and we know that the road ahead will require focus, determination, and continued teamwork. But as we look forward, we do so with optimism, knowing that we’re in this together. To our Throughline, Inc. team, thank you for your dedication. To our clients and community, thank you for your trust. And to everyone celebrating, may your Thanksgiving be filled with connection, gratitude, and hope for what lies ahead. To our core, we are a mission-driven company, and that mission is only possible because of each and every one of you. Thank you for being part of this journey. Here’s to resilience, growth, and a bright future. Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃🍂

Because this is a short work week in the United States, I am gonna keep this post short as well. As many of you are more than well aware, this year the controlled environment agriculture industry has been challenging (to put it mildly.) From bankruptcies to diseases, from price erosion on what you sell to price increases on what you buy, and from changes in government to changes in policies it can feel like everything is basically out of your control. For me I look at friends and colleagues from other industries and think to myself, “man, they are lucky. They have it a lot easier than I do.” Now in some cases that is true, they do. But, in most cases it is not true. They are fighting the same battles I am and depending on the industry the only advantage that they might have is their margins might be better. Then I take step back, take a deep breath and remind myself that I really like what I do. I really like the industry I have committed myself to. And I really like the people that I work with (most days.) These three things alone are a huge advantage over many others I know and the struggles they deal with. Then I need to remind myself that this is the 3rd industry downturn I have experienced in my 30 year career. Based on the crazy spending over the past 5-10 years, historically low cost of money (i.e. interest rates) which made money easier to access and the fact that we saw this capital deployed by inexperienced newcomers with big ideas - this should have been expected. We need to remember that this time will pass and while we cannot be sure of what will inspire the next industry rally, we can be sure that it will happen. And finally I need to remind myself that if I want to be part of the group that does well during the next upcycle, I need to keep my head down, keep my company focused and make the correct moves that allow me and my team to prepare for future opportunities. Have a great Thanksgiving Holiday to everyone in the USA. “Every single thing that has ever happened in your life is preparing you for the moment that is to come." — Oprah

As the year winds down, I love taking intentional steps to reset, reflect, and recharge. Here’s 5 things on my end-of-year checklist I do every December to end the year strong and start fresh: Refresh and Protect: I update all my passwords to keep things secure and start the new year with peace of mind. Financial Check-In: A meeting with my accountant ensures I tackle any year-end tax to-dos before the holiday rush and close of Q4. Show Gratitude: Sending appreciation gifts to my clients is one of my favorite traditions—it’s all about celebrating partnerships and relationships. Reflect and Dream: I carve out two dedicated workdays for reflecting on the past year and setting intentional goals for the year ahead. Family First: Between Christmas and New Year’s, I close the office and fully lean into family time. Bonus: I pick up a book or article that’s motivational and energizing—it’s my secret weapon for stepping into January with inspiration and a clear mindset. How do you wrap up your year? What rituals or habits help you start the new year on the right foot? Would love to hear new ideas! #YearEndReflection #GoalSetting #WorkLifeBalance #GratitudePractice #ClientAppreciation #FamilyTime #Inspiration #StartFresh #NewYearGoals

December is here, marking both the start of the festive season and the final month of the year. This is of course a time to celebrate but also a time to sharpen our focus and set a strong foundation for the opportunities ahead starting January. December offers the chance to: 👉𝐒𝐞𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐨𝐧𝐞: as we continue to build momentum and focus as we approach new opportunities and reap the benefits of this year's tremendous efforts. 👉𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲: laying the groundwork for success as we move to the next chapter. 👉𝐑𝐞𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭: upon the successes of our customers, our team, and our community over the past year. 👉𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞: our ongoing growth and planned continuous improvements in the year ahead. Seasons like this are a reminder that success isn’t about rushing to the finish line—it’s about preparing for what’s next with confidence and commitment. So, with these thoughts, let the countdown to Christmas begin!

Here we go. The 6 week holiday juggle. It’s not just for parents of young kids either. Everyone is on holiday over the next 6-8 weeks. And often multiple times! In every industry things go a little slower. September will be here before we know it and then peak retail trading, crazy schedules, the countdown to Christmas and new year planning. This summer try and slow down. Use it to work super smart. If your time is limited I don’t believe that means less productivity. It means more planning, more focus, and much clearer expectations to those around you. I challenge you to say no to a meeting that isn’t going to serve your priorities. Really look at your diary this week and see where you can inject some “focused working”. Good luck and happy summer. ☀️
