Did you know? North Suburban has once again been recognized by the Lown Institute as one of the most socially responsible hospitals in America, receiving "A" grades in Equity, Value and Outcomes on the 2024-25 Lown Institute Hospitals Index? Out of more than 3,500 hospitals measured by Lown, only 5% achieved honor roll status, with North Suburban ranking among this select group of high performers. Learn more at https://lnkd.in/gMp7Z8is.
Really enjoyed a great session this morning with my teammates, Cynthia Hayes, Marcy Pett, PMP, CSM (LION), and Sandra Gurley, as Sheila Heen shared great wisdom from her book, Difficult Conversations: How to Discuss What Matters Most. A big thank you to North Point Community Church and Jackson Healthcare for hosting and sponsoring the event.
When it comes to gauging the quality of our conversations, two questions are key:
1. What are we talking about? Are we actually talking about the “real issues”? And if so, what are the real issues from each point of view?
2. How are we talking about it? Are we talking about the issues in a way that will maintain and strengthen relationships or will damage our ability to work or live together?
Management service organizations can give independent physicians the resources they need to compete with big hospital systems.
When independent practices stay afloat, patients have more options for personalized, high-quality, and affordable health care.

Lovely photo. Great people. We have some exciting candidates applying for the 2025-2027 RACGP presidential term. Such an important role. We have General Practice under siege from years of poor policy and economic (in)efficiency coupled with the mega trends of rising mental heath ageing and chronic disease states in may more people. Without a change in
1. Budget for patients to access primary care physicians
2. Preventive practices
3. Community led care
We will have an unsustainable health system or some poor proxy of lower quality care.
We need strong evidence based reform that attracts the medical students of today to be the specialist GPs of tomorrow.
We also need them to STAY in practice and currently women GPs who see increasingly the complex patients and more mental health presentations in comparison to others—are reducing clinical hours or looking to exit to other areas of non clinical healthcare. The moral hazards are real to high quality productive and compassionate Drs. This leaky pipe of workforce is the proxy measure of adequate and overdue reform for the patients of Australia.
Good luck to all candidates. 🍀

🔹Hi everyone, it’s been a busy first week for the RACGP Presidential Campaign - I wanted to say a big thank you to everyone for your kind words of support and fantastic engagement!
🔹I hope you have been able to my look at my 5 key priorities if elected as president or learn more about my background!
♦️My highlight of the week definitely came at the AMA 2024 Conference this weekend, with fellow GP, friend and colleague, Dr Danielle McMullen being announced as the next AMA President. It’s incredibly exciting to have a GP at the helm of the AMA and to potentially work with her and the AMA to advocate for General Practice.
🔹Looking ahead, forward to the GPDU Q+A (GPs only) this Wednesday evening and engaging with more of your concerns, questions and ideas for the future of General Practice.
🔹 podcast coming too this week
#ama24- l Australian Medical Association President- elect Dr Danielle McMullen,
I am enjoying the habit of boosting examples of leadership in action. Perhaps I should use it as a feature in the upcoming newsletter- Words can influence minds but actions build the future. Cheers to a brighter future in cancer care.
Breaking News! Great news for Irvine & Santa Ana CA residents and oncology professionals. A new facility is coming to the southern CA region, bringing care options closer to home. Residents, healthcare leaders, and market stats all suggest that this is exactly what the area needs.
For those living in the area, this means better options for care nearer to you, without having to drive over an hour for the type of doctor you need. Bringing top-notch care options closer to residents is critical to access and changes how many will experience treatment in the area. It means less cost to patients who travel out of town and pay for overnight stays. It means actually getting the care you deserve for those who are not able to overcome geographical and financial barriers to care in their region.
For those working in rad-onc or planning to, and are from the area, you are getting a brand new facility as an option for your career. You can reconsider having to move away from your relatives to get the best job in your field. A trusted name and the best minds in the field are now in your backyard. This will drive oncology professionals to the region for better cost of living, housing, and research opportunities.
Thank you to everyone involved in bringing care options closer to the southern CA region in Irvine. Let's celebrate better options for care and career opportunities for oncology workers. #Irvine#SantaAna#healthcare#oncology#careeropportunities#newfacility#healthcaretechnicalstaffing
System Chief Executive - City of Hope Medical Foundation & National Physician Organization
Today, leaders from across the City of Hope system came together to launch the activation of our new and upcoming Irvine Hospital. It was a historic day as we plan for our second academic hospital in Southern California.
Toward the end of the session leaders Annette Walker, Wendy Austin, Annette Morgan, M.B.A., Laura Grant, Dr. Ed Kim and I - took questions from the audience. At the start of the Q&A, there was silence for almost a minute as scores of leaders took their phones out and began taking pictures of the panel. Here is the moment Ed and I realized the audience was actually scanning the bar code above our heads in order to submit their questions - not taking a picture. Our influencer moment quickly evaporated!
Thank you to all our leaders who participated. This will be an exceptional journey as we open a world class hospital in Irvine. Your talent, compassion and focus will lead to a place of healing like no other.
