It was great to discuss the relatively recent rapid and dramatic population change for Greater Hobart with the Mayors of Clarence, Glenorchy, Hobart and Kingborough and their GMs today. I flipped my usual presentation approach to start with the Key Messages. The Key Messages below provided the foundations for discussing the drivers of population change for each LGA now and into the future, expanding on how context and what is happening on their periphery matters for demographic change and policy development as well as shaping the future (and, of course, population ageing is unavoidable - we can't grow our way out of it!).
