💐 My feed is filled with people celebrating international women's day and all the strong, inspirational women out there - which is no short of absolutely brilliant and beautiful 💐 However, I am sure there are people out there wondering why this is important - let me remind you: 👭 It will take an estimated 135.6 years to close the gender gap completely. 👭 1 in 3 women worldwide have experienced physical or sexual violence, mostly by an intimate partner. 👭 Women in the UK earn approximately 81p for every £1 earnt by a man. 👭 Every day, approximately 810 women die from preventable causes related to pregnancy and childbirth. 👭 Women hold approximately 7.4% of Fortune 500 CEO positions globally. 👭 97% of people who menstruate feel like their employers aren't doing enough to support menstruation at work. So, today (and everyday) celebrate your mum, celebrate your sisters, celebrate your girl friends, celebrate your colleagues. But also, champion change, look at your subconscious gender bias, stand up for the woman being harassed in public, advocate for policies and practices that promote gender equality, understand reproductive health, challenge that sexist remark. Be the change your mum, your sisters, your girl friends and colleagues need. #internationalwomensday2024
