I want to express my thoughts regarding the Fawzia who is running the Somalia's Chairperson candidate African Union (AU). When she brought up her news conference, the Somalian administration told her to step down immediately and run in favour of Djibouti. What I am trying to say, Fawzia, is one person and Somali interests are much higher a single person. By this I mean that countries have mutual interests; Djibouti's support is necessary for Somalia to succeed when it seeks to become the Deputy Executive Secretary for (IGAD). This is the first time that Somalia has achieved such a high position within the organisation, and Somalia alone would not have been able to do so without Djibouti's assistance. Recall that the government may have other goals and objectives for which it needs Djibouti's assistance. In such case, the Somali government will need to meet Djibouti's standards. Young people who don't know exactly what matters don't become emotionally invested in this subject. Author Mohameddeq Ali Abdi

The complex fight against al-Shabaab in #Somalia & #Kenya For nearly two decades, Somali forces have battled al-Shabaab, but the insurgents continue to control large areas in central and southern Somalia. Despite efforts from the Somali government and international partners, al-Shabaab's influence extends into Kenya, with August 2024 marking the most active month for the group in the country. Political rivalries, regional disputes, and the impending withdrawal of ATMIS forces pose additional challenges to counter-insurgency efforts. Explore the full report for an in-depth analysis of these dynamics and the road ahead in the fight against al-Shabaab: https://lnkd.in/dzJuXNMr

Somalia is now a full member of the East African Community (EAC) after a ceremony in Arusha, Tanzania. Jibril Abdirashid Haji, Somalia's Minister of Commerce and Industry, presented the ratification to the EAC Secretary-General. This grants Somalia access to EAC's cooperation areas such as trade, investment, and free movement. Somalia will now contribute to creating a roadmap for integration, focusing on the EAC's four pillars: Customs Union, Common Market, Monetary Union, and Political Federation. Somalia joins seven other members, including Kenya and Uganda. Obligations include designating a ministry for EAC matters and appointing representatives to Eala and EACJ. #SomaliaEACMembership #EastAfricanCommunityIntegration #TradeInvestmentCooperation #FreeMovementRights #EACRoadmap #CustomsUnion #CommonMarket #MonetaryUnion #PoliticalFederation #RegionalIntegration #SomaliaTrade #EACRepresentation #EACMinistry #EACCommitment

📢BREAKING: President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Nigeria during the ECOWAS CEDEAO summit said in calling for lifting of sanctions on #BurkinaFaso, #Guinea, #Niger & #Mali 'The complexities of the issues at hand necessitate a comprehensive and collaborative approach'. This sounds like the start of an appropriate course correction. The strategy to be followed as a follow-up to this decision, including in mobilizing multidimensional collective action to secure governance reform & to restore state authority, would be decisive. In our review of 2023, we pointed out that the approach adopted thus far was flawed. https://lnkd.in/d2_sisMT
NEW: An extraordinary summit of ECOWAS CEDEAO on the situation in the region coming against the background also of the declaration of Burkina, Mali and Niger on their withdrawal from the regional body. https://lnkd.in/eYDmftmS

The international community needs to get behind a 2 state solution and the Security of Israel. Northern Ireland proved to the world, peace was possible but it was the #EU and #US working together and investment at scale into conflict zones that enabled this to happen and endure. If the US is unable or unwilling to be an unbiased player at the table, #China, #India or other states needs to step up and #novetos to peace should be allowed. The people of Israel deserve peace and hostages need to be released immediately with international presence to preserve the peace in conflict zones. A peaceful Middle East could transform the world.

Somaliland has already confirmed and showed its commitment to implement the MoU between Somaliland and Ethiopia, and today the Ethiopian prime minister HE Abiy Ahmed has again said and showed its commitment towards the implementation of the MoU between the two countries, Somaliland and Ethiopia. The MoU has secured regional security and economic integration that will boost regional stability and prosperity. Despite the challenges that the MoU faced, Somaliland and Ethiopia remain committed to implementing the MoU. Where are those who spread fake information underlining that Ethiopia is tired and planning to withdraw the MoU? Win-win milestone "Ethiopia has access to the Red Sea in exchange for Somaliland getting recognition". Somaliland 🤝 Ethiopia. #SomalilandEthiopiaMoU
