Saturday, April 20, from 1:00 - 4:00 pm, is our day for an ALA-Oregon Chapter fun-filled social event full of camaraderie, bowling, and food! Register by April 10! Several of you participated in past events supporting the Sunshine Division, and we want to continue that support! We are hoping that you can bring one or more non-perishable food items for donation to the Sunshine Division as your entrance to this event—the more the better! This is an exciting opportunity to connect with your fellow members and business partner colleagues while we continue our support of a local community partner. Perhaps a bit of competitive bowling or competitive eating—who knows! Knowing that weekends are often family time, our event is open to your +1 and kids. The Grand Central Bowling venue should be a fun way to mix and mingle, enjoy some good food, enjoy bowling at your leisure, or take in a few arcade game activities. Space is limited so register at oregonala.org EARLY! Be sure to register yourself as well as any family members who will join. Please email Lori Hughes at lori.hughes@millernash.com with any questions. Let her know if you will be bringing any children so that we can plan the menu and arcade opportunities. Let’s kick off spring together, support our local community, and spend time with the best in our community -- you! Sunshine Division Food Donation Recommendations: "We rely heavily on food donations to make our mission possible. We are always looking for the following non-perishable items: canned meats, pasta, rice, cereal, soup/broth, peanut butter, canned/dried beans, canned fruit, canned vegetables, cooking oil and shelf-stable milk. To ensure food safety we cannot use: Noncommercial or repackaged items, perishable items, open or used items, alcoholic beverages, damaged or unlabeled cans, homemade items." #networking #ALABuzz #LegalManagment #FoodDonation

Fundraiser’s Dinner Etiquette Tip #4: Utensils You find yourself at dinner, but the place setting is much more complex than you are used to. You don’t want to make a bad impression on your dinner companions. Where do you start with all of the various utensils? Here are the main considerations to keep in mind: 🍽️Start on the outside, and work your way in. Utensils for the main course will be closest to the plate. 🍽️If soup is served, the spoon will be on the outermost right side, since it will be the first course of the meal. 🍽️ Dessert forks and spoons will be placed at the top of the place setting. 🍽️ Wine glasses will be arranged from right to left in the order that they will be used. The water glass will be the inmost glass, placed right above your knives. What formal dining situations have you encountered with donors? #DinnerEtiquette #petrusdevelopment #fundraising #development #faithbasedfundraising #fundraisingdinner #EtiquetteTips

Each day we hand out bagged meals to our clients who work offsite along with individuals who come to our front door seeking a meal. As summer approaches, and our need for bagged meals increases, you can help us feed the hungry by joining our Meal Bag Program and packing meals that we can hand out to those who need them! Here's how you can get started: 1. Pack lunches in a clear Ziploc bag and fill them with a granola bar or cracker pack, a small bag of chips or pretzels, a fruit cup packed in fruit juice (not syrup); raisins; or dried fruit 2. Please purchase items to make a sandwich (loaves of bread, turkey or ham slices, etc.) but do not pre-make the sandwiches 3. Optional— add a note of encouragement to let the person receiving the bagged meal know they are loved! 4. Knowing in warmer months we can hand out up to 200 meal bags a day, we kindly ask that you prepare and deliver at least 40 meals at a time. 5. Schedule a delivery time in advance at carlat@raleighrescue.org or 984-272-2001 We're so grateful for the generosity of so many who have helped us sustain this program! And, the work must continue. Please join us in providing for the Raleigh community! Are you looking for a way to positively impact your Community this Thanksgiving? You can do it by donating a discount you receive. On occasional Fridays, my family and I order pizza from Domino’s. So, if you are planning a Friday pizza dinner, you can use Domino’s Pizza code 1126 for a 20% discount on your order, like we did this past Friday. Just be sure to check for updated codes online. You might get lucky and find a greater percent off or buy one, get one free from Domino’s. We used the 20% discount, which turned out to be $15.20 in savings. We went to Walmart, our favorite local and hiking resupply spot, to buy non-perishable Thanksgiving day items recommended by Feeding America. Luckily, Walmart had their rollback price special on several of the items. We were fortunate to get two each of the six recommended nonperishable items. Non-perishable Thanksgiving Day food items: • Boxed stuffing • Instant mashed potatoes • Canned vegetables • Dry macaroni • Cranberry sauce • Canned Pumpkin This is not a sermon, just a thought on how to help others based on a lesson someone taught me. #FeedingAmerica #Walmart #Dominos

Food = fuel. So why is that at sports day this week did I look over and see a kid with a Co-Op bag of sausage rolls some over processed crisps, a bag of sweet and another bag of something I didn't even know what it was. Yes we're told not to put fizzy drinks in or chocolate bars but the majority of kids are being fed total shit everyday. School lunches aren't much better and the quality doesn't make your kids want to order it. For some it's the only proper meal they get all day so why are we still going round in circles after all the amazing work industry and chefs have done. I find it hits some of the bigger ones but what about the little primary schools or those that need food vouchers to survive? Great to see a new manifesto out from Chefs in Schools yesterday which outlines how they're changing this but as an industry and with so many in the food industry how can we make change happen sooner and on a bigger scale? Read their manifesto here > https://lnkd.in/eN-eUyis I've offered charities free consulting time, profit share of what we make Kitch to go towards this and we're still 12 months on waiting to partner with someone that's actually making a change and honestly it worries me that we're trying to give money away to the cause but no one seems interested. Would love to know what others are doing in this space and get involved to help if we/I can. #FoodinSchools #KidsFood #SchoolFood #SchoolMeals

Let's all work together to help others - check out this list of how to help.
As we welcome November and the holiday season, it’s a time of year for gratitude and a reminder of the power of giving back. Food banks across our communities are working hard to help families put together holiday meals, but they’re often short on critical items that can make a real difference. If you’re considering donating, here’s a list of high-need items shared by food bank volunteers: 1. Boxed milk, oil, and real butter/margarine for meal prep basics. 2. Canned foods with pop tops (or include a can opener!) to make meals accessible. 3. Essentials like spices, salt, and pepper to flavor holiday dishes. 4. Treasured items: sandwich bread, eggs, and fresh produce. 5. Cake mix and frosting to help make a child’s birthday a little brighter. 6. Dishwashing detergent is often expensive and is a blessing to families. 7. Tea bags and coffee brighten everyone's day. Looking to help out? Use these resources to find a food bank near you: 1. FeedingAmerica.org for a national network of food banks. 2. FoodPantries.org for a directory of food pantries, soup kitchens, and food banks. 3. FindHelp.org for food and other assistance programs based on location. This season, let’s work together to support those in need. Small donations can mean a lot to families looking to create special holiday moments. #EOATechnologies #GivingBack #FoodBankSupport #HolidaySeason #CommunityMatters #MissionFirst

We recently went to hot pot. If you've never been it's a must! You sit at a table with hot broth in the middle. Then you order all the meats, tofu, veggies, and cook the food in front of you. Ok - I fully understand I Need to work on my selfie skills! 😂 We've been to a few different hot pot spots across the country, but here's what I love about this one. 1️⃣ The pot in the middle raises up, so you don't have to dig around to find your goodies. 2️⃣ Your food is delivered by robots! 3️⃣ They have a huge variety of ingredients to make your perfect sauce. 4️⃣ It's only 10 minutes from my house! Hot pot restaurants are popping up all over the place, so how they gather patrons is in the user experience and fun times! Think about this as you create your donor stewardship plan. How are you standing out with your donors and giving them a great experience. #nonprofit

As we're in the midst of fall fundraising season, I thought it might be a good idea to revisit a common misconception: More alcohol leads to better fundraising results. Spoiler alert. It's not alcohol that leads to better fundraising results, it's a strong connection to the mission of the organization. The decision to serve alcohol—and how much—ultimately rests with the hosting organization. While alcoholic beverages are typical at many fundraisers, I've seen several alcohol-free events achieve remarkable fundraising success. If you do choose to serve alcohol, one crucial consideration stands out: please offer thoughtful non-alcoholic alternatives that go beyond just soda water with lime. By providing a diverse selection of non alcoholic beverage options, you are showing consideration for all attendees' needs and preferences. This shows respect for your guests and helps create a more inclusive environment that everyone can appreciate.
