Why I Will Never Work for Companies That Don't Demonstrate True Diversity, Equity and Inclusion As a seasoned professional, more than ever diversity and inclusion are essential values for me. I believe that when people from different backgrounds work together, their unique perspectives and experiences create a more innovative and productive work environment. Unfortunately, many companies still struggle to embrace true diversity, equity and inclusion. As a minority, I have experienced firsthand how it feels to be in a space where I may be there because of the melanin in my skin. It can feel uncomfortable, disheartening, and even offensive. Companies like this will often use imagery to give the appearance of diversity. Misrepresenting themselves as diverse. That's why I refuse to work for anymore companies that don't prioritize diversity and inclusion. I want to feel valued and respected for my skills and I know that I am not alone in this sentiment. This is why my new endeavors have included supporting minority owned businesses and organizations. So, to all the companies out there: if you want to attract and retain top talent, it's time to prioritize DEI. Even though we are now seeing some companies pull away. DEI is still important. Companies who prioritize true diversity not only are doing the right thing but you can see it in their numbers too. According to this article, companies with high diversity have a 19% higher innovation turnover. So you see, it's not just the right thing to do, it's also the smart thing to do. For those seeking companies that embrace diversity, companies like Anthology Inc, EAB, Seramount, Salesforce, Marriott International, Accenture and Mastercard are some of the top companies who continue to support DEI initiatives. #Culture #diversity #misrepresentation #Change #Support #DEI

We're so proud of the diverse workforce that makes up our Talentpath team ❤️ and doubly proud of the advocacy our team is committed to ensuring Australian workplaces are informed on how to create and nurture inclusive environments. Our very own Alli Swanson is championing 𝑰𝒏𝒄𝒍𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒂𝒕 𝑾𝒐𝒓𝒌 𝑾𝒆𝒆𝒌. Her unique perspective is powered by what some might call challenges: ADHD, anxiety, and sensory sensitivities. To us, they are her superpowers. These traits sharpen her problem-solving skills, amplify her empathy, and drive her to think outside the box. They remind us every day that diversity of mind is one of our greatest assets." You’ll feel her passion in the post she shared today – we borrowed it (see below) because it’s brilliant! 🌏🌈🧠❤️⭐ 🌎🌈𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐭 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐮𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲💪🏽🫱🏼🫲🏼 This week marks Inclusion at Work Week, an opportunity to reflect on the progress we've made towards building more inclusive workplaces, while recognising the work still ahead. YES-vember Day 6: YES to Inclusivity I’m winding down Day 1 of the Talent Development Think Tank Conference, feeling both energized from networking with incredible professionals and fulfilled by the knowledge gained from inspiring speakers. Today, I had the privilege of: -Participating in an unforgettable team-based human potential exercise that sharpened my perspective on approaching every scenario with fresh eyes (Don Jones) -Learning about reasoning with analogy vs. reasoning by first principles—a shift that will help innovate framework designs for programs and solutions I create (Matt Gjertsen) -Understanding the role of talent development in building high-performance cultures and how bridging capabilities with connection can create a culture that is uniquely ours and drive company growth (Matt Prostko) -Discovering a better way to measure the impact of training through performance needs analysis, transforming the consultative approach I will take with my business leaders (Kevin M. Yates) -Reaffirming the value of empathetic leadership and the necessity for psychological safety in an organization, which will continue driving me to create spaces where everyone feels safe to speak up (Claude Silver) One sentiment that stood out to me today was from that final segment: building culture “brave moment by brave moment.” I’m choosing this as my brave moment to address a topic I don’t typically bring to LinkedIn—politics—because it’s often emotionally charged and can feel ostracizing. But perhaps it’s a topic that could use an inclusive light. Authenticity, psychological safety, and inclusivity are essential to our work and our world. Yet, as we wrap up this day after Election Day, I noticed a need for more spaces where people can respectfully share different viewpoints. That’s why today, I hope we all say YES to inclusivity. Inclusion means acknowledging all perspectives, even when they’re different. While many conversations today began with “today is hard,” it’s important to remember that half the country might feel differently. Regardless of the outcome, Election Day is challenging for many, and today would have been hard for half the country either way. I found myself asking: Are we fostering environments where everyone—regardless of their beliefs—feels comfortable sharing? Political preference is often overlooked in DEI, but creating a genuinely inclusive environment means recognizing diverse lived experiences and reasons for the way people vote. Maybe we’ve missed the mark by steering clear of complex topics like politics and religion when we could be teaching how to listen, ask questions, and seek understanding. To build a culture of real inclusivity, let’s be intentional with our language: “Today may be hard for some and joyful for others. Whichever side you’re on, I hope we can be here for one another.” #YESvember #Inclusivity #Empathy #Leadership #TalentDevelopment #PsychologicalSafety #DEI #TDThinkTank

As we shake off the weekend and dive into a new week, we hope you carried the positivity and self-reflection from the weekend into this new week. Remember, we encouraged you to "focus on your strengths and resilience that carried you through, rather than dwelling on unfinished tasks or setbacks". Now, as we dive into this new week, let’s carry forward that resilience by focusing on the power of Employee Resource Groups (ERGs). These groups are not just about networking, they’re about creating a supportive environment where every voice is heard and valued. By participating in or leading an ERG, you can contribute to a culture of inclusion, empowerment, and create a wave of positive change in the workplace! It is no brainer that by embracing diversity, inclusion and belonging we create a more welcoming environment but also unlock full potential of our teams. But how do we celebrate at work? Well, we should celebrate all year around and here are 8 simple but impactful ways to showcase Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging in the organisation: 1.cultural potlucks: food is always a common denominator to bring people together. Encourage colleagues to share dishes from their cultural background. It is a great way to learn more about each other's traditions. 2. host diversity workshops: education is key and this is one element often missing-the educational part to foster understanding and empathy. Explore different aspects of diversity, such as race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation and disability. they provide valuable insights and help cultivate a more inclusive workplace culture. 3. support ERG: they provide a platform for employees to connect, share experiences and advocate for inclusivity. 4. promote open dialogue: create opportunities for open and honest conversations, through team meetings, town hall sessions, or other feedback channels. Encourage employees to share their perspectives. 5. encourage cultural sharing: set up a "Culture Corner" where employees can display artifacts, photos, or stories that represent their heritage and cultural background. This will help spark conversations among colleagues. 6. celebrate diversity days: designate specific days to highlight different diversity themes. At ING we celebrate the UN recognised days but you could also think of "language day" where employees teach each other basic phrases in their native language, or "music day" featuring playlist curated by team members of different cultural background. 7. promote diverse voices: create a space (eg a newsletter) to showcase diverse voice perspectives, share articles, personal employees stories. 8. acknowledge diversity holidays: keep a calendar of diverse holidays and observances and encourage employees to share how they celebrate. Celebrating diversity isn't a one off event, it is an ongoing commitment to creating a workplace where everyone feels valued, respected and empowered to bring their whole selves to work. #diversityandinclusion #belonging #leadership #ongoingjourney #workplaceinclusion

Honoring Experience: Celebrating the Value of Longevity in Our Team 🌟 At R&G, we're not just a team; we're a family. And just like any family, we value the wisdom, dedication, and loyalty that come with time. Today, we want to take a moment to recognize and celebrate the importance of the longevity of our employees. Each member of our team brings something unique to the table, but there's something truly special about those who have been with us through thick and thin. Here's why we believe the longevity of our employees is invaluable: ✅Depth of Knowledge: Long-term employees are a treasure trove of knowledge and experience. They've weathered countless storms, overcome challenges, and amassed a wealth of insights that can't be taught in a manual. ✅Institutional Memory: With longevity comes institutional memory – a deep understanding of our company's history, culture, and values. Long-term employees serve as custodians of this institutional memory, preserving our heritage and guiding us towards a brighter future. ✅Stability and Continuity: Employees who have been with us for years provide a sense of stability and continuity in an ever-changing world. Their presence reassures both colleagues and clients alike, instilling confidence in our capabilities and commitment. ✅Mentorship and Leadership: Longevity often goes hand in hand with leadership. Many of our long-term employees serve as mentors and role models, sharing their knowledge, guiding the next generation, and fostering a culture of growth and development. ✅Investment in the Company: When employees choose to stay wilsowith us for the long haul, it's a testament to their belief in our company and its mission. Their dedication and loyalty fuel our success and inspire us to strive for excellence every day. As we celebrate the longevity of our employees, let's take a moment to express our gratitude for their unwavering dedication and commitment.
