#questionforgroup Is letting go still the hardest thing you have to do? Letting go of what? It could be a career path, a deeply entrenched idea, a favored style, a cherished friendship, an expectation, a goal. No matter what we are contemplating letting go of, the process can be anxiety inducing and quite painful. Why? Because having to let go means that we have already formed some sort of an attachment. This attachment likely served us well, providing solace and fulfillment. Yet now, at this juncture, we stand at a crossroads, deliberating whether to nurture the flame or extinguish it entirely. Our choice in this regard should be contingent upon an honest appraisal of the following: -who we currently are, -what we currently want, -the environment we currently thrive in, -the energy we currently need to be surrounded by, -the goals and expectations that are currently realistic, -what we currently can give, and -what we currently hope to receive. Heavy on the word currently. The past is the past. Hard fact, full stop. Vital decisions like who we will keep in our safe space, and what path we will traverse cannot be based on attachments formed in the past, or tethered to former iterations of ourselves. Remember this: -Staying present is an art form. -Sentimentality can lead to stagnancy, work to our detriment and disturb our peace. We can honor the past without becoming ensnared in its clutches. Letting go is not merely acceptable; at times, it is imperative for our ongoing growth and flourishing.
