**How 'The Go-Giver' Principles Can Transform Your Property Management Leadership** Are you striving to elevate your leadership at your apartment complex? 🌟 Dive into the transformative principles of 'The Go-Giver' and see how shifting your focus from getting to giving is not just a pleasant theory but a profitable reality. 'The Go-Giver' by Bob Burg and John David Mann offers profound insights into the power of giving more in value than you take in payment. Here are three ways to apply these principles to your role as a leader in property management: 1. **Provide Exceptional Value** - Go beyond the expected with your amenities and services. Enhance your residents' living experience and watch as word-of-mouth fills your vacancies faster than any ad campaign. 2. **Influence through Positivity** - Leadership is not about wielding authority, but about spreading influence. A positive approach in dealing with tenants and staff can foster loyalty and respect that pay dividends in the long term. 3. **Put Others' Interests First** - Prioritize the needs and well-being of your tenants and team. When their interests are protected, they become your biggest advocates, ensuring the success of your property. Implementing these principles won't just make you a leader in property management; it will make you a leader worth following.🚀

Being a Property Manager: It's More Than Just Managing In property management, being a manager extends far beyond handling day-to-day operations. It’s about leading with empathy, optimizing resources, and ensuring both residents and staff feel supported. Data shows that effective property managers improve tenant retention rates by as much as 20%, and properties with strong leadership often experience higher occupancy rates and fewer maintenance issues. The role requires a balance of strategic thinking, customer service, and adaptability to market trends. From fostering community engagement to implementing innovative technology solutions, a great property manager understands the importance of staying ahead of the curve. As we move forward in an ever-evolving industry, I believe in the power of combining data-driven insights with personalized service to create thriving communities and successful properties. #PropertyManagement #Leadership #RealEstate #CommunityEngagement

Characteristics for Success I was recently asked to provide a list of adjectives that others would use to describe me as it relates to my work as a city manager. This, of course caused me to think about the characteristics that help one succeed as a city or county manager. Acknowledging that such a list will differ from community to community, in general what characteristics do you associate most with successful managers? Here are five (plus two) I have come up with for starters: · Patient · Strategic · Decisive · Active Listener · Empathetic And a couple of extras – Adaptable and a Good Sense of Humor What would you add (or take away) from this list?

It’s official! Paulette Hartman is North Richland Hills’ new City Manager and also the first female to take the helm in this position, effective today. This morning, Mrs. Hartman was joined by her husband, Michael, and two of their three children when she took the oath of office to serve as City Manager. Mrs. Hartman began her career in city management more than 28 years ago with the City of Fort Worth as an administrative assistant and then with the City of North Richland Hills as assistant to the city manager. She went on to serve as Town Administrator for the Town of Copper Canyon, Texas for two years and as City Manager for the City of Joshua, Texas for seven years. She returned NRH as Assistant City Manager in July 2014 and was promoted to Deputy City Manager in October 2018. With Mark Hindman’s retirement at the end of March, the City Council unanimously appointed her to be NRH’s next City Manager. To help the community get to know her a little better, we asked Mrs. Hartman to tell us more about her life both inside and outside of the workplace. What is your favorite leadership quote and why? My favorite leadership quote is “To be unclear is to be unkind,” which is a Dave Ramsey quote. To me, it means as leaders, we should be clear in outlining vision, direction, and in giving input and feedback. We should also expect and facilitate clear and direct communication from our team. I believe clear, direct, respectful communication is necessary for a healthy culture. What are you most excited about in leading the North Richland Hills team? I am most excited about the incredible team of directors I am getting the opportunity to lead. All of the department directors are experienced, competent professionals who are experts in their respective fields. They are also passionate about their service area and providing excellent service to the citizens of North Richland Hills. I’m excited to take the organization to the next level in leadership and service. Do you have a hobby outside of work that helps you be a better leader? I love to read and to write, although I don’t get much time to do either of those things. When I do read, I usually read a non-fiction book about leadership, management or building relationships. I am currently reading “Think Again” by Adam Grant. My favorite leadership and management book I’ve ever read is “Good to Great” by Jim Collins. You can read more of our Q&A with Mrs. Hartman on the City of North Richland Hill's website: https://lnkd.in/gdxmgtQ9

In today’s corporate world, a CEO who values and engages with employees at all levels creates a stronger, more positive workplace culture. The way a leader treats their team impacts not only individual morale but also the collective success of the company. When a CEO takes the time to connect personally, it sends a powerful message: Every employee matters! Kudos to Marvin Ellison #employeeengagement #humancapital #humanresources #humanresourcemanagement #employeesmatter #hrmatters #riskmanagement #recognition #leadership #employeerecognition #values #diversity #belonging #equity #dei #inclusion #diversityequityinclusion
Finishing up a Masters degree and I see this in my textbook. The subject matter: Why Is Effective Management of Diversity Important? Marvin Ellison was a motivational and very kind leader that I had the pleasure of meeting a few times during my tenure at The Home Depot. Once as a cashier, second as a human resource liaison, and finally as an Operations Manager. He was the reason I had faith in reaching for the stars in all things I do. Thank you for taking the time to smile and shake my hand when most EVPs and CEOs simply walk by. It meant a lot!

🌟 Appreciating Our Property Management Supervisors: The Unsung Heroes 🌟 In the dynamic world of property management, it's easy to overlook the immense effort and dedication our supervisors put into their roles. Today, I want to highlight the importance of recognizing and complimenting our property management supervisors for all their hard work. Supervisors in property management are the backbone of our operations. They juggle multiple responsibilities, ensuring that properties run smoothly, tenants are satisfied, and our team stays motivated. Their guidance and support often go unnoticed, yet their impact is profound. Why it's Important to Recognize Them: A simple compliment can go a long way in boosting their morale and encouraging them to continue their excellent work. Positive reinforcement helps in building stronger, more collaborative relationships within the team. When supervisors feel respected and appreciated, it fosters a more harmonious and productive work environment. Recognition of hard work sets a standard for excellence. It motivates not only the supervisors but also the entire team to strive for higher performance and commitment. A culture of appreciation and respect creates a positive work environment. When everyone feels their efforts are acknowledged, it leads to higher job satisfaction and retention rates. How to Compliment Your Supervisor: Be Specific: Highlight particular instances where their leadership made a difference. For example, “Thank you for managing the tenant transfer last month so smoothly – it made a huge difference!” Be Genuine: Ensure your compliments are heartfelt and authentic. Genuine appreciation is always valued more than generic praise. Public Recognition: Whenever appropriate, recognize their efforts in team meetings or company newsletters. Public acknowledgment can be incredibly uplifting. Let’s take a moment today to thank our property management supervisors for their relentless hard work and unwavering support. A little appreciation can make a big difference. 🌟 #PropertyManagement #Leadership #Appreciation #WorkplaceCulture #TeamBuilding #Motivation #SupervisorAppreciation

When I was a young manager in London's West End, I learned one hell of a lot, very very fast. It was pretty urgent that I did - if I hadn't learned fast, millions of pounds' worth of stock would have been wasted ... and my management career might have stopped as soon as it began! I learned so much about managing people, managing materials and stock, and serving customers. I even started learning about myself ... but that has been a slightly longer burn (!). What I WASN'T taught was these three things. Had I been taught them, I probably wouldn't have been massively better at doing what I was doing then. I would, however, have been better, faster, at doing all the things I did after I worked in West End retail! And I would certainly have been happier. What are the 3 things YOU wish someone had told your younger managerial self? (Let's avoid the wider life lessons or we could break the interweb!) #leadershiplearning #leadershipdevelopment #managementdevelopment #managementtips #newleaders
