It's now been 15 years of entrepreneurship. I’ve seen the highs, the lows, and the lessons that don’t get talked about enough. If I could do it all again, here’s what I’d avoid: 1. Find a co-founder who complements you, not mirrors you 🤝— The right co-founder balances your strengths and weaknesses. It’s easy to assume you need someone who’s just like you, but that often leads to blind spots. Team up with someone who brings fresh perspectives and different skills, and your business will thrive. 2. Avoid the ‘Founder’s Trap’ 🕳️— It’s easy to subscribe to the belief that you have to do everything yourself. But trusting your team and handing over the reins isn't a weakness, it’s a strength. Empower others, and you'll scale faster. 3. Ignoring personal burnout 🔥— I’ve burned out more than once because I neglected self-care. Without energy, passion fades, and your business will too. Take care of yourself— it's not just good for you, it’s good for your company. 4. Not questioning assumptions ❓— I’ve launched things I assumed would work just because the market said so. But what works for others doesn’t always work for you. Never stop questioning whether your assumptions are still valid. 5. Avoiding conflict 🗣️— I used to hate confrontation. Now, I see that avoiding difficult conversations only prolongs problems. Deal with them head-on, sooner rather than later. It saves time, money, and a ton of stress. Being an entrepreneur is messy and chaotic, but that’s where the growth happens. The key? Learn from the unexpected. but don’t let yourself get stuck in the same mistakes over and over. Keep adapting, keep improving and keep growing. 💪
Amen to all. I've had the hardest time building the habit of not 'prolonging difficult conversations'. 😪
