The language we use matters: to our loved ones, clients, and patients. Particularly when forms of dementia or cognitive impairment are involved. Research has shown that a person-centered approach can lead to improved quality of life, better sleep, and increased self-esteem, as well as reduce agitation for those living with dementia. Here are some of the helpful examples that can get us all thinking about the language we use and how it can impact the population we serve.
