Who will win the Diversity in Tech Impact Award? 🤝🏆 Diversity in the tech sector is not just a matter of fairness; it's essential for driving innovation and ensuring the creation of products and services that cater to a diverse global audience. When people from different backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences come together to solve problems and develop technology, they bring a rich tapestry of ideas and insights to the table. This diversity fosters creativity, encourages critical thinking, and ultimately leads to more robust solutions. At this year’s Thames Valley Tech and Innovation Awards, we’re looking to present one of the region’s leading organisations with the Diversity in Tech Impact Award. In a rapidly evolving tech landscape where innovation is key to staying competitive, embracing diversity isn't just the right thing to do—it's a strategic imperative that drives success and progress. At Ferna Tech, we believe the old model is broken. The idea that building for “me” overpowers building for “us” has led us astray. It’s this mindset that we’ve challenged from the start. We’re the antithesis of hustle culture, rooted in intentional action, whole humanness, and community-driven progress. Today, what we’ve built is a community of founders. Exceptional people bringing exceptional ideas into the world: 🌍 Exceptionally creative 🌍 Exceptionally bold 🌍 Exceptionally black 🌍 Exceptionally global → A month ago, we took our first delegation to Lisbon, hosting the first Black Tech Meetup of its kind at Europe’s most-loved tech conference Web Summit. → 5 months ago, we hosted our first-ever event, the The AI Mixer London alongside our friends at Rise, created by Barclays with one of our incredible advisors Simon Small. → And a year ago, I was sitting, dreaming, and planning what I wanted to build—and how I wanted it to come to life. What Ferna Tech has become today fills my cup—and others’—beyond anything I could have imagined. Now, we’re reaching for the next milestone. We’ve applied to host a panel at SXSW London, and we need your votes! 👇🏽 1️⃣ Follow the prompts in the link https://lnkd.in/dHQzFMav 2️⃣ Search for “Blueprint” 3️⃣ Select Ferna Tech and cast your vote Let’s make this happen, together. #SXSW2025 #FernaTech #BlackTech #GlobalInnovation #CommunityDrivenChange #TechForGood #Innovation #VentureBuilder #VentureStudio #Ferna #TeamFerna Marcus McDowell Sydney Sam Kimberly Ofori Kevin L. Late Post, 🌟 My First BFUTR 2024 Global Tech Summit: An Unforgettable Experience 🌟 I’m still reflecting on the incredible experience I had at my first BFUTR 2024 Global Tech Summit! This event, which brought together Black tech professionals, industry leaders, and allies, was truly one for the books. As a first-time attendee, I was blown away by the powerful sense of community, the invaluable networking opportunities, and the insightful sessions that covered the latest trends and innovations in tech. From thought-provoking keynotes and expert-led panels to interactive workshops, each moment at the summit left me inspired and motivated to take my career to the next level. What made BFUTR 2024 so special: Networking with inspiring professionals: I had the privilege of connecting with so many talented individuals, all dedicated to advancing diversity and innovation in the tech industry. Learning from top industry leaders: The sessions provided incredible insights into the future of tech, and I walked away with actionable strategies for growth. Discovering game-changing resources: Platforms like Obsidi Recruit are making a real impact by helping Black tech professionals connect with opportunities and accelerate their careers. An unforgettable after party: A fantastic way to wind down, continue building relationships, and celebrate the power of community. 🎉 I’m so grateful for the opportunity to have attended and can’t wait to apply everything I’ve learned. And the best part? I’ll definitely be back for the next BFUTR Summit—this is one event you don’t want to miss! If you attended or would like to hear more about my experience, let’s connect. I’d love to continue the conversation! #BFUTR2024 #BlackTechProfessionals #TechInnovation #CareerGrowth #Networking #Community #Leadership #FirstTimeAttendee #ObsidiRecruit #TechSummit

2024 BlackStars Summit and Awards (presented by PanaGenius) was the game changer event of the season! Being surrounded by industry leaders from the best of consulting, banking, sports, venture capital and market leaders who have become pioneers in their field was truly inspiring!! This year’s summit talked about venture capital funding; the future of AI; Allyship, The Path to the C-Suite; Emerging Industries and new opportunities in Africa and The Caribbean as emerging markets and of course the Diaspora post the election. The closing keynote by Derrick Johnson, President of the NAACP and the work that needs to be done in the wake of the new administration was the most moving moment for me. This year the honorees included Kori Davis Porter, (National Basketball Association (NBA) Roger G Arrieux Jr, NACD.DC (Deloitte) were some of highlights of the summit! The practical advice was clear, Be the first. There is power in being the first. Cherish your brand and understand how to use your detractors as catalyst to propel you forward. We all need adversity but choose who you surround yourself with. Pick the right mentors and make sure they champion you when you are not in the room. This was the Summit of Black Excellence at it’s professional best. From amazing sponsors like Citi, Morgan Stanley, McDonald's, Essence TEKsystems, Amazon Web Services (AWS),and NABA INC. 🎤 From Shadows to Spotlight: A Moment of Revelation at a Hackathon! 🌟 As I watched the teams pitch their solutions to a panel of global leaders, I stood in the back, almost cringing at what my team was about to present. They weren’t just going to do another flashy, American-style pitch. No, they were about to share something deeply personal and, in that moment, I was terrified. But then, they got up on that stage and told their story. They shared what it’s like to be women in tech, the barriers they face, and how they’ve designed their project to inspire future generations—not just to live healthier lives, but to take on global challenges. I went from feeling embarrassed to incredibly proud in a matter of minutes. Takeaway: Sometimes, the moments we dread the most can turn out to be the most inspiring. When we share our true selves, we create connections that go beyond the typical. 🌍💡 Let’s keep pushing boundaries and telling stories that matter. PS: Have you had a moment where you doubted yourself, only to find out it was your biggest breakthrough? I’d love to hear about it in the comments! 👇
