Banking for Prosperity & Growth; sharing the stage with Sepo L. Haihambo , CEO of FNB Namibia Thoroughly enjoyed demystifying "Banking for Prosperity" with a very impressive #banking leader from the continent of #Africa. We got to cover a wide range of topics including and not limited to: ⚙️ What programs or initiatives did the bank have in place to educate and #empower individuals and businesses in Namibia?" ⚙️ How was the bank addressing the challenge of financial inclusion in Namibia, particularly in rural and underserved areas?" ⚙️ What are the main challenges faced by #SMEs in Namibia, and how were banks helping them overcome these obstacles? ⚙️ How were the banks increasingly integrating environmental, social, and governance (#ESG) criteria into its lending and investment decisions?" ⚙️ How was FNB in Namibia leveraging #technology to enhance customer experience and operational efficiency? ⚙️ Finally, the importance of #collaboration between various stakeholders of the #banking #ecosystem and how important was it to have a forward looking perspective What is worth mentioning is that I also enjoyed our discussions on the sidelines of our talk; discussing different business models and strategies which exist in the different corners of the world and their applicability to Namibia 🇳🇦 and the wider African continent. I am confident there will be more conversation in the future GITEX AFRICA #fintech #baas #platforms #financialinclusion #superapps #tinkoff #graminbank #leadership

Over 2 editions in the last 3 years, the #GlobalPaymentsInnovationJury Report, co-sponsored by Interswitch Group in partnership with The World Bank has consistently adjudged #Africa to be the 2nd fastest growing region for payments globally, only on #Asia's heels... Now, if there were 2 prime words to describe our experience so far in Nairobi at the 2024 Africa Fintech Summit, these would be 'optimism' and 'renaissance', in spite of the upheavals from the recent market meltdown that has impacted global fintech (not in the least sparing fintechs in Africa from financing, operational and risk management dimensions!) in the last 24 months! The expertise, energy and enthusiasm on days 1 & 2 have been thoroughly infectious, reiterating our long-held philosophy that the sustainable and defining solutions that would consolidate Africa's payments ecosystem will be championed from within 🔥 It's been a particularly delightful melting-pot for us; getting to re-connect and closely engaging existing partners & business relationships from Kenya🇰🇪, Uganda🇺🇬, DRC🇨🇩, Ethiopia🇪🇹 & Somalia🇸🇴 and also emerging prospects from our secondary catchment markets across the broader region, from Tanzania🇹🇿 and Rwanda🇷🇼 to South Sudan🇸🇸!🌍 Watch out for more exciting updates from day 3!🚀 #InterswitchXAfricaFintechSummit2024🤝🏼 #FinTechInEveryIndustry👨💻 #NeverS20P⏩ #DrivingIndustryThoughtLeadership💡 #InspiringAfricaToGreatness🌍

We are happy to announce a $25 million risk-sharing facility with Ecobank Sierra Leone to increase access to finance for ambitious businesses. The private sector, which mainly comprises SMEs, is crucial to Sierra Leone’s economy providing employment for about 70 per cent of the population. Yet, access to capital is a challenge. This facility, the first investment through our Africa Resilience Investment Accelerator (ARIA) platform, will not only increase lending to businesses in critical sectors but also provide longer term loans in local currency. It demonstrates BII’s ability to act as a first mover in frontier markets, navigating risk and working with partners to create impact.
