It feels surreal to see my name alongside the prestigious title of Chartered Accountant. SUMMER RECAP PT. 5 After I participated in the virtual work experience with the Institute of Chartered Accountants, it was suggested that I attended a seminar hosted by the ICAEW (Institute of Chartered institute in England and Wales), with the title "What do Chartered Accountants do?". During this seminar, all the different careers you could have after becoming a Chartered accountant were discussed. This part of the talk was informative and gave me more insight into the potential careers in finance. The second part of the session discussed how to get an ACA qualification and become ICAEW member. This part of session briefed all the participants on the journey to become a Chartered accountant.

How often do you stop and look back at the progress you’ve made? I don’t mean progress on a particular project, I mean over the longer term - years or even decades. In a lot of ways I still feel that I’ve got a lot to learn, I’m lucky to work with people (and challenges) that continually stretch me to develop my thinking, understanding, and practice. At the start of this year one of my goals was to upgrade the letters after my name: to become a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. I’ve always put this off because applying involves documenting all the strategic impact that you’ve provided to roles/ clients in the past and that a) takes time and b) made me be bold about my achievements! I knuckled down however and after several months of silence (I suspect admin delays rather than fierce scrutiny) my certificate arrived in the post this week!! A great way to end this week, with a little focus on me rather than just the day job. #financialdirection #growingbusiness
