Parsippany-based Langan Engineering & Environmental Services on Thursday officially announced the acquisition of Navix Engineering, a leading site/civil engineering firm in the data center market. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Based in Bellevue, Washington, Navix has provided site/civil engineering in the Pacific Northwest and has grown its highly successful data center practice to support projects in nearly 40 states for hyper-scalers, co-location developers, architects, design-build contractors, and allied consultants. Similarly, Langan has grown its data center land development practice around the country, and the acquisition of Navix augments the firm’s standing as a go-to consultant in the industry.

Take a Peak at our Cambridge South Signal Sighting Project 👀 In collaboration with North South Rail, Murphy, and Alstom, True North Rail facilitated the signal sighting process, achieving full sign-off for the Cambridge South Infrastructure Enhancements Project. Using our TrueSight™ platform, we created a detailed 5km virtual environment by integrating GIS data with project BIM data. This included 80 signalling assets as fully interactive objects, providing photorealistic visuals that reduced the need for on-site presence. The virtual model helped accelerate stakeholder buy-in, meet Network Rail safety standards, and eliminate risks early in the project timeline. TrueSight™ BIM-to-VR model transformed complex CAD data into a highly realistic, accessible format, offering detailed, life-like images without sacrificing engineering precision. This process not only shortened project timelines but also saved costs by avoiding rework. Andrew Ratcliffe, Senior Engineering Manager at Murphy said "Understanding that for complex signalling projects this interactive media can be used to conclude signal sighting assurance (incl. temporary/interim arrangements/scenarios) and provide driver training prior to the project entering in to service, it makes sense to undertake this work early in the preconstruction phases so that designers and contractors understand what they’re up against to maintain compliant and safe railway throughout the programme of works; these models help to eliminate risks and allow people to understand and overcome issues much earlier in the programme." Dean Mansell, Signal Sighting Chair at North South Rail said "Working with True North Rail and their TrueSight™ Tool has been highly effective. Its realistic driver's eye view significantly aids the signal sighting committee in risk assessment and mitigation, enabling swift adjustments to meet tight project deadlines. TrueSight's accuracy was confirmed during the Christmas 2023 stage commissioning and subsequent blanking board installation, making it our preferred choice for future signal sighting projects."
