Change is happening in healthcare, whether companies are ready for it or not. I believe that patient advocacy will be the revolution that transforms healthcare in the United States—if we allow it to be. Success in advocacy often leads to early commercial success, especially in drug development. The sooner companies engage with advocacy organizations and truly listen to what patients want from a product, the better the chances of a successful drug launch and widespread usage. This shift is beginning, but it requires a deep understanding from those in C-Suite towers of the critical impact these teams can have. If we support and prioritize patient advocacy, we can drive meaningful change in healthcare. Let’s #bridgethegap and ensure that this revolution reaches its full potential.

The term "patient-centricity" has been thrown around since 2010, but what does it really mean? Unfortunately, it varies from one company to another, and even from team to team within the same organization. Advocacy should be at the forefront of defining this for the entire company, but too often, sales tactics take priority. In pharma, people tend to rise through the ranks because they excel at sales, not because they’re great at patient advocacy or listening to the community. As a result, when change is needed, it’s often approached with a "let’s just do it my way" mentality rather than considering what’s best for the patient. It’s time for a shift—one where advocacy leads and patient needs truly drive decisions. Let’s work together to #bridgethegap and ensure that healthcare is genuinely centered around those it’s meant to serve.

The relationship between advocacy organizations and industry is complex & often filled with tension... #Pharma relies on these organizations for feedback & to build trust within communities. Yet, in times of financial pressure, advocacy is often viewed as an expense line rather than an integral part of long-term strategy. 😰 This dynamic is even more challenging given that many advocacy organizations operate on limited budgets, while still expected to educate patients, advocate for policy changes, & provide direct support. 𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐩𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐚, 𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐥𝐞𝐟𝐭 𝐮𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐭, 𝐝𝐞𝐞𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐠𝐚𝐩 𝐢𝐧 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞. To make this relationship truly effective a shared commitment to patient outcomes, & a data-driven approach are essential to ensure these organizations have the resources they need to drive real impact year-over-year. #patientadvocacy #patientcentric #healthequity #bridgethegap #healthcareinnovation #healthcareadvocacy

💙 "Putting patients at the center is not just a mission—it’s a strategy for meaningful impact." In medical affairs, patient advocacy is more than a guiding principle; it’s a core strategy. Each decision, from trial design to launch, must align with the needs and voices of the patients who rely on us. Sometimes, sadly, people forget this principle. 📌 My approach involves integrating patient insights early in the process to drive relevance and adoption. This patient-centered perspective not only advances health equity but strengthens market uptake by building trust and engagement. #PatientAdvocacy #MedicalAffairs #HealthEquity #Innovation #Leadership

It’s been an insightful day at the Patient Centricity & Engagement Conference in London. There has been extensive discussion around how and when to involve patient advocacy groups, what companies mean when they say patients (or do they mean advocacy groups), how to overlay the nuances of patient experiences onto clinical data and how can all this improve patient experience and outcomes? At the end of the day, we all know that patients are at the heart of what we do, so how can we bring them further into the process? I’d love to continue the discussion, especially around how patients can be further involved in HTA. #patientadvocacy #patientengagement #hta #patientcentricity

Patient Advocacy: Amplifying Voices, Transforming Healthcare 💬 Patient advocacy is about ensuring that the voices, experiences, and priorities of patients are heard and integrated at every level of healthcare – from policy and research to clinical care. Why is patient advocacy so important? 🔹 It drives patient-centered solutions that improve care outcomes. 🔹 It ensures healthcare systems reflect the real needs of those they serve. 🔹 It empowers patients to influence decisions that directly impact their health and lives. When patients advocate for themselves – or when patient advocates partner with organizations – the results are powerful: ✅ Better access to care and treatments. ✅ Improved healthcare policies that prioritize equity and inclusivity. ✅ Greater participation in clinical trials and research that are relevant and impactful. Patient advocacy doesn’t just improve healthcare systems – it transforms lives. Every stakeholder in healthcare has a role to play in supporting patient advocacy: 🗣️ Patients bring lived experience and vital insights. 🤝 Providers amplify and respond to patient voices. 📊 Researchers and policymakers ensure patient perspectives drive innovation and progress. Let’s commit to fostering partnerships where patient voices aren’t just heard – they lead. How are you engaging with patient advocates to improve healthcare outcomes? #PatientAdvocacy #PatientEngagement #PatientCenteredCare #HealthcareInnovation #HealthEquity #AdvocacyInAction #PatientVoice
