Every holiday season, Apex takes the opportunity to give back to our hometown of Charlottesville, Virginia, to help support those in need during what can be a difficult time of year. This December, the Apex team provided over 50,000 meals to families in hunger through the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank—an organization that has been fighting food insecurity in the Commonwealth since 1981. 🔔 ICYMI: 🧡 “September marks Hunger Action Month, and today, we also pay tribute to the 9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance. 🇺🇸 Hunger is a year-round challenge, but this month and this day serve as a reminder to come together and make a difference. Millions of people across the country, including families and children, face food insecurity every day. After the September 11th attacks, David Paine and Jay Winuk—who lost his brother Glenn, a volunteer firefighter—sought to redefine this day by making it one of service. What started as a simple idea has grown into the largest day of service in America, with over 30 million people dedicating their time to help others each year. At Ridiculous Engineering, we’ve committed to service by raising awareness about hunger and supporting the millions of families facing food insecurity. Today, as we reflect on the significance of this movement, we encourage everyone to get involved. Together, we can fight hunger and foster a spirit of service and unity that extends beyond this day. 🌎🍽️ #HungerActionMonth #EndHunger #SocialImpact #RidiculousEngineering #FedsFeedFamilies https://lnkd.in/ez7VKk27

🥬 Hunger Action Month is a great time to learn about hunger and its root causes, spread awareness and inspire people to take world-changing action. At Oregon Food Bank, we believe food is a human right because we need food to live. We all have the right to food that is unrestricted, culturally-relevant, nourishing, dignified and fear-free. When we recognize food as a human right, we commit to providing for all families. Help us amplify the message that food is a human right and vital for our communities: FoodForAllOR.org/Pledge.

In Michigan, nearly 12% of people face food insecurity, and many of our community members face barriers to accessing nutritious food. Food insecurity has soared over the past few years, making it more important than ever to create a future where our food system is equitable, sustainable, and equipped to meet southeast Michigan’s needs. At our foundation, we support a number of nonprofit organizations, including Fair Food Network, Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan, Forgotten Harvest, Capuchin Soup Kitchen, and Make Food Not Waste, who are working to increase food access, destigmatized food insecurity, and provide education and resources so that people throughout our region can thrive. 🍎 Mapt’s newest partner, Indy Hunger Network, serves a critical need in our community. One in four Indiana residents needed food assistance last year - hunger was at the highest level in the past decade, according to an Indy Hunger Network study. Two out of every five households had unmet food needs in any given week. Indy Hunger Network is working to change those sobering statistics, aiming to unify a network of hunger relief partners and create a cohesive system that ends food insecurity in central Indiana. We’re grateful for the opportunity to support such critical work.
