The Commissioner for Economic Development Trade Tourism Industry and Minerals at the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) secretariat, Albert Muchanga, has stated that President Akufo-Addo’s decision to grant executive approval for visa-free travel to Ghana by all Africans is a move in the right direction and marks a step forward to the vision of creating a single African Market under AfCFTA. The latest policy forum at which I had the privilege of representing Malta is the Senior Officials' Meeting of the Khartoum Process in Cairo. With participants from Europe and Eastern Africa, over the past two days, we touched upon the current migration situation, the Khartoum Process itself, the follow-up to the Joint Valletta Action Plan and this past year of Germany's Chairmanship. Cambodia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have agreed to accelerate the application of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) to strengthen their economic ties. The agreement, signed in June 2023, aims to broaden trade in goods and services, expand investment opportunities, catalyze job creation, and support collective growth in various sectors through mutual benefits. The two dignitaries praised the strong friendship and collaboration between Cambodia and the UAE since the commencement of diplomatic relations in 1994, highlighting a shared vision for prosperity and development. They also discussed opportunities for heightening bilateral trade and investments and proposed initiatives to boost tourism, fostering people-to-people connections and cultural exchange. These discussions not only reinforce an enduring partnership but also set the stage for economic development and enhancement of ties at various levels.
