At the midpoint of 2024, it's a good time to ask: Are you where you want to be? Naval Ravikant once remarked, "𝘈 𝘧𝘪𝘵 𝘣𝘰𝘥𝘺, 𝘢 𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘮 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘥, 𝘢 𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘧𝘶𝘭𝘭 𝘰𝘧 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦. 𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘴𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘣𝘦 𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘵—𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘣𝘦 𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘥." As we stand at the half-time of 2024, I invite you to consider these questions: 1. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐧𝐨 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐛𝐮𝐲? Reflect on the intangible gains like deepened relationships, knowledge or peace. 2. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐭? Consider how these can be strengthened, or new ones cultivated. 3. 𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦? Identify the anchors in your life that maintain your calm and how you can enhance or protect them. 4. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 '𝐚 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞' 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮? Think about how you can foster environments of support, whether at home, work, or within your community. 5. 𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐳𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐭? Time is finite. Reflect on your allocation and whether it aligns with what truly matters most to you. As we progress through 2024, I hope these questions illuminate your best path to tomorrow. Let’s make the rest of the year a testament to growth and resilience 🔥🔥 #WomenInLaw #MidYearReflection #GettingTheCakeAndEatingIt

I’ve just finished re-reading The Almanack of Naval Ravikant: A Guide to Wealth and Happiness and it was even better the second time around. I’m such a fan of this book that I’ve bought copies for friends and colleagues and recommended it to many. Naval’s wisdom and thought-provoking ideas really stand out. If you haven’t checked out his work yet, I’d suggest picking up this book. It’s genuinely full of valuable advice on achieving success and finding happiness. It's written by Eric Jorgenson but every attempt is made to present Naval in his own words. Here are a few key takeaways: 💡Use tools, people, and technology to amplify your efforts and reach. 💡Value honesty and integrity in all relationships for lasting success. 💡Focus on what makes you stand out and become irreplaceable. 💡Invest in relationships and decisions that will pay off over time. 💡Work on reducing desires and being content with the present. 💡Take full responsibility for your actions and their outcomes. 💡Prioritise self-awareness and continuous personal growth. #naval

📖 99% of effort is wasted - or is it? I just stumbled upon this quote from Naval Ravikant in his book The Almanack of Naval Ravikant: "99% of effort is wasted." At first, I was like, "Hold up, is he saying all my hard work is for nothing?" 😳 👋🏻 However, upon reflection, it becomes clear that he's not undermining our efforts, but rather highlighting our need for sharper focus. He's basically saying, "Hey, most of the stuff you're stressing over? Yeah, it's not really moving the needle in the long run." 💡 Much of our daily grind doesn't significantly move us closer to our goals. It's like throwing darts blindfolded, hoping to hit the target. And you know what? He's got a point. How many times have we gotten caught up in the daily grind, only to look back and realize we were just spinning our wheels? 🎡 👉🏻 Take a good, hard look at where you're putting your efforts. Find that magical 1% that really matters, and then pour your heart and soul into it. Highly recommend the book by the way! Amazing insights! 🙏🏻 #NavalRavikant #worksmarter #whynot #learning #lessismore #haagahelia

As a butterfly emerges from the cocoon, it is vital that she not be stuck in the cocoon and that she struggles against the force of the cocoon that keeps her in place. In fact the struggle to open her cocoon is what builds strength in her wings. Without the struggle, the emerging new butterfly lacks the strength to fly and embark on her new journey in the world. Without this self-sustaining strength, she will perish quickly. It reminds me of what Robert Kegan writes in his book The Evolving Self: “Evolutionary activity involves the very creating of the object (a process of differentiation) as well as our relating to it (a process of integration)…. Successive triumphs of ‘relationship to’ rather than ‘embeddedness in.’” In a similar way it is vital that the United States Space Force struggle to emerge from the cocoon of Air Force culture. It’s an emergence of great struggle that will yield a relationship of differentiation and integration — not unlike that of the marines and navy. It’s the cocoon’s job to try to keep the butterfly entrapped and it’s the butterfly’s job to fight with all its might to get out. And emerge we must for our own standards, curricula, and identity.

🚀 Finished the First Part of Almanack of Naval Ravikant: Building Wealth 💡 As I wrap up this section, here are the final key takeaways: 1️⃣ Luck Turns Into Destiny 🍀 Luck becomes deterministic when you build your character right. Your reputation, integrity, and long-term thinking turn luck into destiny. 🌟 Be the trusted dealmaker, and people will seek you out just for the integrity you’ve built. 💼 2️⃣ Patience is Key ⏳ Great people achieve great outcomes, but it takes time. Every successful person I (Naval Ravikant) met early in my career became successful, but it didn’t happen overnight. 🕒 Be patient, apply specific knowledge with leverage, and you will get what you deserve. 🎯 Moral of the story: Build your character, be patient, and success will follow. 🚀 Stay tuned for more as I continue this enlightening journey! 📚💥 #Wealth #Patience #Luck #Destiny #Success #NavalRavikant #BookJourney

When you understand your WHY, your life gets easier. I’m constantly asking myself: what is my mission, professionally and personally? In the United States Marine Corps, my mission was simple and straightforward: put myself and my team in the best position and training so that they are set up for success when they go overseas. For many veterans, leaving the military means losing their purpose, and finding a cardinal direction for where to go is hard. I was grateful to join the team at Echelon Front, where our mission is drilled into us at every turn – share the leadership lessons of Extreme Ownership to make an impact. My kids are my WHY, too. As a father, I want to make sure my kids are set up and prepared for anything life throws their way. All the hard work I put in at work and in my fitness is to ensure I can always be there when they need me. When you have a strong mission, it doesn’t matter what life throws at you. You find a way to work through challenges because you know why it matters. #leadershipmindset #missionoriented #fatherhood #marines #leaders
