We all tend to encourage our teams to take breaks, vacations, and get away to decompress. I know I always insist my team to take their vacation and selfishly I know when they do, they will be more productive when they are back (LOL). However, for some reason when I go away my computer comes with me, and it quickly turns into a working vacation. The notion of always staying plugged is good, but unfortunately it was at the expense of my metal health. Recently, I listened to my team's advice and took a much-needed break. I resisted the temptation to work, and the result was amazing! I returned to work feeling refreshed and re-energized. As leaders, we often prioritize the success of our company over our personal well-being; but taking care of ourselves is just as important. My takeaway - let's all remember to take those vacations and enjoy the little things we miss when we're working crazy hours.
