Andrew Peterson’s Post

You need a break. My case for giving you team vacation between Christmas and New Years: 1) Everyone in the company off at the same time means you don't have to be constantly checking your email/slack so you don't fall behind while you're away. Syncing time off let's you actually get time off. 2) All your customers are likely also on vacation so even more so a reason that allows everyone to actually unplug. 3) January is going to be EXTRA busy so get in some recharge time now so you can kick ass at the start of the year. 4) Are you really expecting your team to be that productive then anyways? However much time you all get off from work this holiday season, enjoy it!

I've always appreciated the fact that Riot has a two week winter break for the whole company (same for a week in the summer!). It makes a huge difference and allows everyone to be off, relax and recharge for all of the reasons you've suggested.

I'm also finding that employees view it as a really nice perk/benefit that the company gets to take full credit for. We heard: "Wow, I've never worked for a company that has given this time off before." and "This is really going to help with burnout." A very low-cost, high-reward benefit for all! ☀️

Recharging is so important ahead of another great year! Great and important post man!

We get off from the 26th to the 1st. Back on the 2nd. It’s nice to have that time and know that most if not all the company is off. The support teams and other critical operational teams are working! They will use their time a different days.

Could not agree more. We do this at my startup Manara even though most of the team is in the Middle East & doesn't even celebrate these holidays (except Jan 1). Everyone appreciates having this annual time off all at the same time.
