I just had to share Ishan’s post!

Thank you Australia! 🇦🇺 Here are my three key takeaways from a week spent with educators from across ANZ at our Inspera breakfast seminars in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide. Flexible assessment with integrity has always been deeply embedded in curricula here. We were heard a range of voices from across academia and professional staff on how they want to keep their assessment valid, reliable, engaging and innovative.
Fantastic to spend time with my colleagues Grant Beevers and Paul Dourlay and our three guest speakers Alex Steel from UNSW, Phillip Dawson from Deakin and Stan Karanasios from UQ.
Say hello to Thale Herbertson – our new Head of School 👋
Thale is half British and brings a wealth of teaching experience from the UK, China, Switzerland, Czech Republic – and Norway. She's now celebrating OIS's outstanding results in the international IB rankings.
“The IB programme offers the most stimulating upper secondary education available," Herbertson asserts.
“It's academically rigorous and demanding, yet grounded in a holistic philosophy. And our results are consistently exceptional. This year, we had a 97% pass rate and an average mean score of 37 points out of a possible 45. That is 7 points ahead of the global average!”
“It’s not all about results, however,” adds Thale. “Our vision is to develop our students’ unique potential. What matters most to us is finding the right fit for every student – regardless of whether they're top of the class or not. I believe international schools will become increasingly relevant in this globalised and complex world. The job market is constantly evolving, making it difficult to predict what skills students will need in the future. By equipping them with resilience and the ability to ask the right questions, I believe we can better prepare them for whatever challenges they may face. Combining this with the experience of learning within a diverse, international environment provides a broader perspective on the world, which I believe will be invaluable moving forward," Herbertson concludes.

*WATCH* the 1st interview with Fairview International PLC, the high-quality private education provider that listed on the London Stock Exchange last week. In this interview, Dr Vincent Chian, Principal of Fairview Kuala Lumpur, discusses the huge opportunity for investors in the education sector.
Watch here ▶ https://lnkd.in/exKsafz4
Fairview International (LON; FIL), a provider of high-quality international schools across Asia Pacific and the United Kingdom, recently raised £2.7m in a successful IPO on London’s main market.
The company operates two international schools in Malaysia, with a strategy of expanding organically and via acquisition in fast growing Asian economies, and by consolidating the distressed UK sector where many sub-scale, and therefore unprofitable, public schools are threatened with closure. Notably, there are three other schools in Malaysia and one in the UK that also trade under the Fairview brand, which are outside of the plc group.
We spoke to Dr Vincent Chian, Principal of Fairview Kuala Lumpur, whose experience as a former psychologist has driven him to put student welfare and building mental resilience at the heart of Fairview’s educational philosophy.
In this interview, investors will hear:
- Why the company focuses on the International Baccalaureate qualification
- How the company’s educational philosophy focuses on equipping pupils for the future workplace
- How the Company can run schools profitably with just 150 pupils, well below the 250-pupil breakeven point of many UK schools
- How the group plans to expand from its existing two-school presence in Malaysia into Indonesia, Vietnam and Thailand, alongside possibly consolidating the UK public school sector
- How the company’s industry leading teacher training programme secures supply of IB qualified teachers, maintains high levels of outcomes for pupils and protects operating margins
Reasons to add FIL to your watchlist:
- A unique asset portfolio on London’s stock market, providing its customers affordable access to top ranked International Baccalaureate education
- An organic and acquisitive play offering investors exposure to both the fast-growing Asian markets, and a consolidation opportunity in the UK
- Strong financial performance to date with an efficient operating model that underpins further profitable expansion
- Unique access to an enlarged group of schools, trading under the Fairview brand, for potential acquisitions
- Proven process driven delivery of the prestigious International Baccalaureate qualification that can be leveraged into offering new, technology-enabled, revenue streams
Dr Vincent Chian, Principal of Fairview Kuala Lumpur, was interviewed by John Hughman for focusIR
