Had the opportunity to listen in on a conversation at work last week, aimed at showcasing the cultural diversity in leadership. The speakers shared their respective cultural backgrounds and contrasted the changes they've seen from when they first started working vs the environment today. A couple of key takeaways: 1. Certain behaviours - silence + listening, deference to senior leadership - were either highly valued or seen as a development area, depending on the cultural context. 2. All speakers embraced the strengths that were shaped by their cultural backgrounds and reflected that they were able to leverage these qualities to enhance their leadership. It was a great conversation and one that resonated with many as the chat soon filled up quickly with questions. What a way to bring to life the intentionality to appreciate (just) one aspect of diversity! #culturaldiversity #leadership #leadershipdiversity
