Our trial wetland project now has its own webpage where you can view monthly progress photos. We were pretty thrilled this week to not only record a chorus of boisterous frog song, but spot a tuna (freshwater eel) making themselves at home! 🐸 🔗https://lnkd.in/gCVV52Zy #biodiversity #wetlandrestoration #frogsong #ribbit #amuribasin

Billfish Foundation Tip: How to Identify a White Marlin White marlin are known for their rounded dorsal fins and spots on their bodies, unlike the pointed fins of their blue marlin cousins. Their pectoral fins are longer and more curved, and they often display a beautiful iridescent blue-green color along their upper sides. Look for their unique, more pronounced lateral line than other species. Next time you're out on the water, keep an eye out for these distinctive features to spot a White Marlin!

Want to make a real impact on your local environment? 🌱 Start with native plants! They're not just beautiful; they're crucial for maintaining healthy ecosystems. Native plants provide essential food and shelter for local wildlife, such as important insects, and help prevent soil erosion. But here's the thing: some non-native plants can throw off the natural balance. They might look nice, but they can be like uninvited guests at a party, taking over and not giving back. So, what can you do? Choose native plants for your garden! And while you're embracing the local vibe, why not add a touch of American craftsmanship to your home with our unique metal art? 🇺🇸 We have some beautiful new yard stakes to add some fun to the outdoor space! Share your thoughts on native plants, or visit our website to find that perfect piece of metal art for your garden! #NativePlants #EcoFriendly #MetalArt

🌱 Third Tool in the Vegetation Toolkit: Monstera HDA 🌱 The Monstera HDA is the most specialized of the three tools in my toolkit, designed specifically for creating a specific type of tropical plant for my scene. This tool allowed me to generate multiple variations of the Monstera plant, giving me the flexibility to place as many as needed for a vibrant garden environment. I hope you enjoy the showcase, and I’d love to hear your thoughts on these tools! Cheers! #TechArt #ProceduralModeling #GameDev #EnvironmentArt #HoudiniEngine #UE5 #HDA #FoliagePipeline #RealTimeRendering #ProceduralFoliage #GameArt #MonsteraHDA

ARBOR DAY UK "Rewards" I now have a lot of plantings to go back to, after five years of plantings associated with our Arbor Days, here in Lancashire. Hard work, often bitten by horse flies, but going back to do the maintenance and looking after the trees is a MUST! 🌳 💚 I had an enjoyable Friday, lightly pruning and removing tree guards from a line of 24 oaks that I planted in 2010: they are doing fine. However, a much later planting for HM Queen Elizabeth II, in an area now called "Queen's Corner", was just as rewarding, if not more so. In the mix of that planting, I put in c. 30 Japanese snowbell trees (Styrax japonicus) that I had grown from seed. After three years, one was c. 2 metres tall, and flowering. Few trees in the UK flower in mid-summer: often, the best you can get is a mock orange (Philadelphus) - which is essentially a shrub (and the more modern cultivars available are nearly all dwarves - sad - a common trend in woody plant provision from garden centres these days). So, the Styrax is a very welcome summer flowerer - and so elegantly pretty with it! Seeing a tree I have reared from seed now flowering is a great reward - but I'm looking forward even more to next year, when all those Styrax are bigger, and five/six are flowering. Eventually, it will make a worthy display for "Queen's Corner" and whom this planting commemorates. With best wishes, Duncan. #ArborDayUK #trees #moretreesplease #Styrax #treeplanting #woodlandcreation #resilience #fromasmallseed #environment
