🏅 I CANNOT contain my excitement for the Olympics to start! I am so excited to watch the Opening Ceremonies tonight. There's something incredible about watching athletes from around the world come together, showcasing their incredible talents and unyielding dedication. I'll admit, I stay up way too late watching events that I had no interest in watching before the Olympics or after...but there I am, well past midnight excitedly watching. The Olympics remind me of some key lessons we can all bring back to our business lives: 1. Setting Ambitious Goals: Olympic athletes aim for gold, setting high standards for themselves. In business, setting ambitious goals drives us to push boundaries, innovate, and achieve remarkable success. 2. Teamwork and Collaboration: Many Olympic sports require seamless teamwork and trust among team members. Similarly, our success in business hinges on our ability to work together, support each other, and achieve our common goals for a common vision. 3. Resilience and Determination: Olympic athletes epitomize resilience and determination. Their journeys are filled with long waits between games, setbacks, and unexpected failure but they push forward. In business, we face challenges too, but with a determined spirit and grit, we can overcome obstacles and succeed. Goals are not the distinguishing factor between winners and losers. All Olympians aim for the gold medal. The process of achieving a goal is the actual distinguishing factor between winners and losers when it involves fixing/adopting habits. You can aim to clean your room, and you can achieve it, but you’ll most likely end up with a messy room the next day if you don’t change your habits that led to a messy room. We need to always look for the root cause of the problems which is mostly the habit that led to the problem. We do that and we become winners! The process of fixing your habits is the path that can lead you to winning.

How inspiring! As someone who values creativity, it's great to hear her say how important creativity is in sport, where it's mostly based on objectives, performance stats and data. I have loved watching you at the Olympics Lisa Carrington, you do New Zealand proud. What comes to mind when you think of the olympics? I’m not the type to track and follow the athletes when they aren’t competing but seeing them perform at the highest level is always inspirational. Who can say they work daily, for multiple hours a day, controlling their intake and output, at a craft that forces you to use your body and mind in conjunction in high stress scenarios? We talk about grit and hard-work a lot in business, but if there’s anything I’ve observed watching the olympics the past two weeks is that discipline and hard work doesn’t always pay off. What you do after you lose, how you take your setbacks and failures and turn that into fuel to train and improve, is what makes you an Olympian. https://lnkd.in/gxuMhfRQ #inspirational #olympians

'Stanley, we've been watching the Olympics, why are we not watching the Paralympics?' I felt challenged and embarrassed. Are you watching? Sport teach us so much. Kagiso Monyadiwa writes: At the ongoing paralympics, most of the athletes especially the blind ones need a guide for their races. This means for the athletes to win, the guides must train with great energy just like the competitors. Now that is revealing for me in the sense that sometimes to win, you need the strength of one who actually isn't competing but by leveraging on his strength, you can claim gold. Another says, what is interesting is the guide can't cross the finish line before the athlete competing, but they have to lead most of the way. The lesson: Everyone needs someone at one point in time for life's podium of glory. In our careers, we need mentors and coaches to nuture talent and lead us to the podium of growth and success. 🍃

🏅 The Olympics are in full swing, and it’s a non-stop spectacle of jaw-dropping athleticism and unrelenting determination. Seriously, who knew humans could jump that high, run that fast, or perform such gravity-defying flips? These athletes have spent years training, and it shows. Every race, every leap, and every perfectly executed routine is a result of countless hours of practice, sweat, and probably a fair share of tears (and maybe some ice baths). It’s not just about the medals, though they’re pretty shiny. It’s about the grit, the perseverance, and the heart-stopping moments that make us all go, "Did you just see that?" It’s a masterclass in pushing limits and redefining what's possible. So, as we cheer for our favourite Olympians and marvel at their superhuman feats, let’s channel a bit of that Olympic magic into our own lives. After all, if they can break world records, we can tackle our to-do lists, right? Here’s to the Olympians who inspire us to aim higher and dream bigger! 🥇 #Olympics #Inspiration #Greatness #Dedication #Goal

Have you also been enjoying watching the Olympics the past few weeks? 🥇 What’s more incredible than witnessing these amazing athletes compete against each other is watching them overcome mistakes during their competitions. In front of huge crowds, while being filmed for the entire world to see—live and recorded forever—these athletes perform in the sport most important to them, a sport they have worked years, if not decades, to perfect for this very moment. We’ve watched them make huge mistakes and even fall flat on their faces, showing us, if only for a moment, that they are human too. But possibly their greatest strength, and the reason they’re able to compete in the Olympics, is what happens next... They keep going as if it never happened, and some of them still win gold!! Two lessons here that I try to implement in my everyday life: 1) Everyone makes mistakes. They may not be broadcast live for all to see, but you don't need to witness them to know they're happening. 2) If you let a mistake bring you down, you are only failing yourself. Own it, move on, and then you will win! Happy Monday Everyone :) #winning #goldmedal #olympics #perspective
