It is with deep sadness that we share the news that our dear friends and colleagues Spencer Lindahl, Vice Chairman, and Rustin Randall, Director, Brokerage, lost their lives in a tragic aircraft accident. Spencer dearly loved his work and everyone at Amherst. He was part of the founding fabric of our firm and immensely proud of what we have all built together.   Rustin worked closely with Spencer and was beloved by everyone who knew and worked with him. Both Spencer and Rustin left an indelible impact on Amherst and the lives of everyone with whom they crossed paths. Words cannot express the depth of the pain we feel as we continue to collectively mourn this incomprehensible loss. - Sean Dobson Chairman, CEO and CIO

Spencer was literally and figuratively the biggest personality in the room. Rustin easily the kindest and most thoughtful man I’ve ever met. Such a tremendous loss. 💔

I didn’t know either of these men, but I feel the loss our industry will feel from this tragedy. To their families and colleagues, let their memory be a blessing.

I’ve been thinking about them and their families often this past week. Both were great business men and wonderful fathers and husbands. I loved the positivity and fun they brought to the room every time we were together. They will be greatly missed. Since their tragic accident, I’ve reflected on how I can be better, love deeper, and live life with greater purpose. I am praying for their families and those that were close to them.

I am so sorry for the unimaginable heartbreak and loss you all feel. This tragic news forces us all to pause and reflect on the things that are most important. You honor these men with your words, and carry their legacies forward with your work and the way you come together as a family. My thoughts and prayers are with the Lindahl and Randall families, and for you the Amherst family. 🙏🏻

I’m heartbroken to hear of Spencer Lindhal’s passing. I had the privilege of working with him recently, and his wisdom, kindness, and dedication left a lasting impact on me. Spencer brought a unique energy to every conversation, even during the most challenging discussions. His loss is deeply felt, and my heart goes out to his family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time. May we honor his memory by carrying forward his kindness and positivity.

I was deeply saddened to hear this news yesterday. I just had the pleasure of meeting Spencer for the first time last week at the Cap City Kids Golf Tournament after hearing nothing but amazing things about him. I was struck by his height, but even more so by the incredible energy and good vibes he radiated. He had such a positive presence, and it’s heartbreaking to know he’s gone. My thoughts are with his family and all who knew him. Spencer will truly be missed.
