This GIF usually gets some laughs.
Amazon burning billions on fast delivery is funny.
At least some thought it was in 2022.
When Amazon's results were down.
Delivery speed suffered.
They made cuts to right size their network.
Then they moved to a regional fulfillment model.
And delivery speed was faster than ever in 2023.
More efficiently, while driving revenue.
Imagine that, logistics as a competitive advantage.

Amazon, Target, or Walmart: Who will win the #ShippingWar?
In this latest revolution in last-mile #logistics, major retailers are competing to meet the increasing demands of customers for quicker and more accurate deliveries. Winning this challenge requires substantial investments in capital, cutting-edge technology, and an overhaul of existing processes. As retail logistics shift towards decentralization, the ability to make accurate predictions using artificial intelligence will be crucial for success.
The second video in the "Shipping Wars" series, produced by The Wall Street Journal, delves deeply into Target’s strategy for fast delivery.
From my perspective, this strategy does not appear to be a winning one. Why? Target is not investing significantly in technology, precision, and speed, and it has not effectively differentiated its traditional retail operations from its highly competitive and fast-paced e-commerce operations.

Is there something we can learn from Amazon as a collision repair facility? How can we raise the bar by focusing on some of these factors?

Supply Chain Consultant & Advisor/Freelancer. In a time of disruption and risk. My profile is at my ABOUT section and has other info about me. Real supply chain experience. Been there. Seen it. Done it. Semi-retired.
Amazon's e-commerce parcel delivery growth in four years. Their own logistics infrastructure gives them a cost advantage over competitors using and paying outside providers, like UPS. It to position them as a parcel delivery firm that competes head on in the market with UPS and others. Their real world E2E supply chain and know how also positions them be something no one is--a third party supply chain service--3PSCM or SCMaaS. Sleep with one eye open for retailers and logistics firms.
What a difference 4 years makes.
This chart from the #WallStreet Journal logistics report is incredible. Shout out to Paul Page.
In just 4 years, Amazon has tripled their parcel delivery volume, and moved up from the #3 spot to the #1 spot. If this trend line continues, Amazon is on pace for nearly 7 billion parcel deliveries this year.

After watching the debate last night it got me thinking....
👉 Over the past five years, I've seen way too many brands tantalized by the idea of being in 4+ locations and getting to their customers in 2-days without paying expedited shipping. (The Amazon Model)
👉 Time and time again I've had conversations with brands who said "it was a nightmare" for various reasons.
👉 This is a challenging decision, so to support all eCommerce leaders and founders, I'd like to present both perspectives to help you make the best choice for your business.
This is why I'm challenging the heads of two of the biggest #3PLs in our space to a debate.
If this is something you want to see let us know in the comments so I can get this thing rollin' 😎
