Cease and Desist Rental companies are screaming “Cease and Desist” at us. Why are HVAC Rentals bad for homeowners? It’s simple math. Equipment is amortized over 15 years with up to 3.5% compounded annual rental increases built in - how does that look over the term? Water heater at $35/month - $9157 with hst Furnace+Air Conditioner at $200/month - $52,329 with hst They tell you that maintenance is included? When was the last time you received maintenance? They tell you repairs are included- how often has your equipment needed to be repaired, and are these repairs really worth the fee you’re paying? They tell you that you will get priority service- that really means you can only allow them to touch the equipment and it’s going to be when they are available. It’s only disrupting the market if the existing market ‘owners’ take issue with the message….I think we have their attention. At L.G. Home Comfort we stand for transparency and homeowner choice. We are just getting started… https://lnkd.in/ezvVUr7Q
When it comes to renting HVAC equipment, such as water heaters, it is important for homeowners to be aware of the terms and conditions of the rental agreement. This includes understanding the monthly rental fee, the length of the contract, any additional charges or fees, and the process for maintenance and repairs. In the case of new build houses that come with a rental water heater, homeowners may not have a choice but to accept the rental agreement that is already in place. However, it is important for homeowners to be aware if the water heater is oversized or not the most appropriate application for their home. An oversized water heater can lead to higher energy costs and potentially shorten the lifespan of the equipment. Ontario's government does have regulations in place to protect consumers from unfair practices, but there may be room for improvement in terms of ensuring transparency and consumer education when it comes to renting HVAC equipment. Homeowners should feel empowered to ask questions, seek multiple quotes, and make informed decisions about their HVAC equipment. Ultimately, homeowners should be proactive in researching their options, understanding the terms of rental agreements, and making responsible decisions
Well said, it’s truly sad what contracts they have clients sign.
Transparency in the rental model is essential for empowering homeowners. 💡
