They are an indispensable element of the 24 Hours of Le Mans: we are talking about the LMP2 prototypes designed for independent teams that offer an opportunity to compete at a more contained cost thanks to rigorous specifications. The brakes are made of carbon, and Brembo equips 100% of the cars in this category with its own brake calipers. This infographic synthesizes the main characteristics of the braking systems dedicated to LMP2.

Have you ever thought about #EngineValves in high-performance motorsports cars? Because these valves open and close thousands of times per minute, even the #SightestImperfection in seating can lead to #SignificantPerformanceLosses, which can make all the difference in a race. Polytec vibrometers can be used to ensure that valves in sports engines seat perfectly every time. The vibrometer measures how the valve seats at the microscopic level, capturing the minute bounce and stretch that occurs as it makes contact with the sealing surface. This precise measurement is crucial for optimising engine performance, as it allows engineers to make adjustments that ensure the valve seals completely, preventing any loss of gas, which is vital for efficient combustion.

🏎️💨 Formula One returned last weekend for the season's inaugural race at the Bahrain International Circuit! Amidst the excitement, discussions revolved around ground-breaking designs and performance enhancements driven by cutting-edge technology such as additive manufacturing. Over the next few weeks, I'm going to share exactly how additive manufacturing can revolutionize and provide valuable solutions for Formula One teams. First up, rapid innovation and development! 🔧 Problem: Formula One thrives on speed, not only on the track but also in innovation. Wasted time leads to loss of performance. 💡 Solution: Rapid prototyping through additive manufacturing accelerates the design process, enabling teams to swiftly prototype and test components. This ensures faster iteration cycles, allowing for the rapid implementation of new ideas onto the car. By reducing the time from concept to track-tested component, additive manufacturing enables teams to stay competitive and responsive to evolving race conditions. It's not just about keeping up with the competition; it's about leading the pack with cutting-edge technology and relentless innovation. 🏁 Follow me at jamie.cronin@graphite-am.co.uk for more insights into how additive manufacturing can transform your projects! #FormulaOne #AdditiveManufacturing #Innovation #BahrainGP #MotorsportEngineering

M-Works Search Engineering Video Friday. Inside the Lamborghini Factory For some reason, I’m intrigued by V-12 engines. I’m not sure why would want or even need a V-12 engine. Last week, I highlighted the Bentley W-12 engine. To build on the V-12 theme, I found this video of the Lamborghini V-12 production plant in Italy. If you feel the need for sheer power, or just love sports cars. Watch this video and see how Lamborghini makes their V-12 engine then follow assembly to the final product. It's impressive. https://buff.ly/3YdxRbR M-Works Search-Working to identify the best manufacturing professionals®

Fine engineering is a lost art today. Today we see cuttting corners to produce power units that satisfy the dimme counters and miss greta whatever her name is. I admit I've never really liked Bugatti quadriturbo monsters and always considered them a specc sheet fillers for those that love numbers and ignore the finesse to produce them. Today i was surprised with this piece: https://lnkd.in/d8PZ2_EW Thanks to Cosworth (that are still alive and kicking) the territory that once belonged to the now zombied Honda and BMW, is safe. And we'll see another masterpiece of engineering being produced. NA... all motor... and not the american way (inefficient volumetrics through displacement); an engine that revs this high requires engineering finesse. An engine with over 100bhp/liter as they all should be...118 actually. Not f20c level, but as long as it's abote 100bhp/litre, it's respectable. Maybe humanity has a chance at evolution after all! Honda and BMW should be ashamed already... they must be jumping walls with this move from Cosworth. Long live Cosworth! I've always been able to count on you to make life interesting.

Excited to share insights from two incredible seminars I recently attended, led by industry leaders Brembo and Pirelli! 🚀 Brembo Seminar: Mechatronic Products and Projects Leonardo De Novellis, PhD provided an illuminating session on project cycles and norms, delving into the transition from traditional to mechatronic projects. With a focus on the V-model approach, encompassing various engineering branches, we explored the significance of standards like IATF 16949, A-SPICE, and ISO 26262. A highlight was the in-depth overview of the Sensify System, particularly the brake-by-wire innovation allowing individual control of each wheel. This flexible and modular system not only enhances braking performance but also ensures driver feedback and safety. The session concluded with a comprehensive discussion on safety, security, and autonomy, leaving us inspired and informed. Pirelli Seminar: Advancements in Tyre Design Diego Sabato captivated the audience with insights into the intricate world of tyre design and testing. Emphasizing the complexity of crafting the perfect tyre for each vehicle, we explored the multitude of layers and materials involved, with simulations playing a pivotal role in design optimization. The significance of tread design and structural integrity was underscored through simulations of aquaplaning and stress analysis. Sabato also unveiled Pirelli's cutting-edge testing methodologies, including the flat track test machine for rapid characterization. Moreover, we gained valuable insights into the importance of cornering stiffness, reaction time, and comfort in tyre design. Addressing concerns such as noise reduction and rolling resistance, the seminar provided a holistic view of tyre innovation. These seminars underscored the relentless pursuit of excellence and innovation in the automotive industry. Grateful for the opportunity to learn from the best! #AutomotiveInnovation #IndustryLeadership #ContinuousLearning #Brembo #Pirelli #Mechatronics #TyreDesign
