Just in: Antares Capital LP leads c.$1.5bn refinancing for Genstar Capital backed OEC Leading a group of private credit lenders, Antares is providing a refi package for the software development firm, which includes a $1.15bn unitranche, a $200m capex facility and a $125m revolver. The proceeds will be used to refinance the existing debt of c.$600m first lien and $365m second lien. Once again, we are seeing firms opting for private credit solutions to take out broadly syndicated debt, which is a reflection of the popularity and competitive edge of the private lenders. While public market conditions may be volatile on the back of economic indicators, central bank speeches, or even credit events in similar sector, private lenders could prove to be more stable in supporting immediate funding needs. +++ To wrap up what happened last week in the levfin space, we've had the next best thing for European leveraged finance, as the management and owner of the largest capital structure in the market started a game of chicken over nearly €25bn of debt. We refer, of course, to AlticeFrance (SFR), whose fourth quarter earnings call crashed bonds and loans across the structure, incinerating a ton of value for levfin investors. The long-dated SUNs were worst hit, down more than 30 points, but it’s been a massive sell-off everywhere On the loan side, the market is still open for the cuspier more controversial B3 names, where it takes a little more work (and a little more margin) to get lenders comfortable. Recently, our Co-Founders and Co-CEOs Nick Raphaely and Steven Beinart chatted to InvestorDaily about our recently re-launched AltX Credit Fund. The fund targets investment returns from 5.85 per cent to 12.80 per cent for wholesale investors. “Each share class within the fund provides investors with diversification and portfolio risk management, enabling exposure to a broader range of underlying loan transactions for a much lower minimum investment threshold,” said Steven. “There are many ways to gain exposure to private real estate credit. The AltX Credit Fund provides the full spectrum of choice to investors, ranging from vanilla, liquid first mortgage exposure through to structured credit opportunities targeting higher yields." Why did we choose alternative investments? “The old notion of it’s a choice between equities and bonds or a combination thereof no longer really holds equally,” says Nick. “We saw at the start of the pandemic in 2020, equities fell by over 35 per cent and bonds only rallied 5 or 6 per cent. So they’re not really doing their job in the way that they used to be doing. Alternatives is really the space which is kind of stepped in as almost as the third pillar to provide investors with a range of choice. Now, obviously, alternatives as an asset class capture a lot." The new AltX Credit Fund structure reflects the continued growth of AltX in the private debt investment space and provides more choice for our investors.
