I recently came across a feature by DSV - Global Transport and Logistics, and one key point she raised resonated strongly with my own Project Management journey, Adaptability. This word, often overlooked, has been pivotal in navigating the complexities of managing large-scale projects. Adaptability, in my own experience, means more than reacting to unforeseen challenges. It’s about proactively anticipating change, streamlining processes, and balancing the needs of diverse teams and clients. This has been a guiding principle throughout my career, and Maybelline's story, the lessons I've learned from Project Management Institute and the PMI Singapore Chapter have reinforced this mindset, serving as a reminder of how critical it is in our line of work.
Learning at DSV: Employees in the APAC region (Part 2) For the second installation of this series, we talked to Maybelline Oun, Project Manager of Fairs and Events in Singapore. 1. What has been one of your most memorable experiences in DSV so far? Coordinating the Singapore Airshow as Project manager. What excited me the most was working with different entities in DSV, both internally and externally. I collaborated with multiple overseas DSV offices, banding together to achieve our goals for this major event. It was especially rewarding to have had cultural exchange and direct interaction with my global counterparts, who came down to the site itself. 2. Tell us more about what you learned from the Airshow experience. Due to this event's special nature, I was exposed to handling many major sensitive goods for the first time. I had to expand my knowledge of such goods and how to handle them properly, ensuring that they would be compliant for smooth importing through customs. Furthermore, I developed essential soft skills, such as quick adaptability, through extensive collaboration. I had to manage many internal stakeholders with varying priorities, on top of external ones. We learned to be mutually flexible in our respective standard operating procedures to enable smooth processes within a narrow timeline. #LifeatDSV #EmployeeFeature #APAC #Singapore #FairsAndEvents

One of the greatest gifts I've experienced in life is being my father's daughter. He was such a magnanimius man, taking what Life gave him and creating a delicious meal out of it. My father was an immigrant from Austria and moved to the United States in the late 60s with nothing more other than his education and his perseverance. In 1971, he was initially hired as manager of La Bodega Restaurant; he created the menu (seen below) from his own experiences. I was about 10 when he was able to buy out the investors, becoming sole-owner, then opening another location and so on. It wasn't always easy- even as a child I could sense there were some really difficult times. He prepared me for being a small business owner through daily life; complaining about the bank issues, talking about investors, etc. Never-not-once did I expect a smooth ride in life because my dad prepared me. What a kick-ass #Österreicher (Austrian) he was. I miss him always, but especially this time of year. Happy Wednesday! One week!🎄 #aviation #aoasafety #constructionindustry #safety #safetyprotocols #helpers #generalaviation #escorts #flaggers #barricades #rpr #sbe #wbe #dbe #hub #tx #co #ga #fl #ca #ok #nv #tn #al #mwaa #va #ar #ky #faa #badgeholders #safetyculture #compliance #thirdpartyriskmanagement #constructionsupport #solutionoriented #anewapproach His recipes (auf Deutsch, natürlich)😉
