This 55-hour Arts and Trauma “Certificate” does not comply with the AATA’s “minimum credential” of an accredited Art Therapy Master's degree to provide Art Therapy services. Issuance of such a certificate misleads participants this “training” complies with their Codes of Ethics to only provide services authorized by qualified training and experience. Art Therapists train at least 8 years for our credentials. Would you want your trauma surgeon to study for 8 years for a first credential, or 55 hours? In addition to qualified healthcare delivery misrepresentations, I have seen career mental health administrators duped in to believing a new hire with a "Certificate in Art Therapy" ... was a Board-Certified Art Therapist. The adverse consequence? That person was hired as an Art Therapist, and an Art Therapist was not.
